Tire Life
Lately there has been a little discussion regarding tire life and I thought it would be interesting to read other 928 owner's experiences with different tires. Post your info on brand of tires, approximate age, and miles driven on them.
Mine are: Pirelli P7000, 3 1/2 years old, 17,000 miles. They still look brand new - minimal wear.

225/45/17, 255/40/17: Bridgestone RE750's. Been on two different cars. They are two years old and at least 15,000 miles. Two track days. Multiple high speed stops and runs. Looking good so far. Fronts are cupped from a bad alignment. But not bad enough to need replacement yet.
225/50/16: Dunlop Sport 8000. Were on my '86 for two years and two track days. Never an issue with them. Ran great.

In the past I have had Bridgestone (many different models including S02/S03), Pirelli Asim., and now Michelin Pilot Sports. The Pirellis and Michelins are easily good for 25K miles then they might be getting a little slick. For some reason Bridgestones are always about gone in about 12k miles for me.......no matter which one........they ride and handle great but seem to be soft as butter. The Michelins are definitely high dollar but worth every penny as they seem to offer the best ride and handling, but wear fairly long.

i get about the same life from the brigestone SO2/3, the 2 is a better tire IMO in terms of ride and handling but then the MPS2 is better again, cant comment on wear just yet though.

Yokohama EVS-100 have been over 25K miles. I changed them to get fresh tires for open road racing, but the fronts were still fresh, so I saved them for daily drivers.

I've concluded that my rear wheels contain very large, powerful nail-grabbing magnets. I've yet to fully wear down a set of rear tires since buying the car, though the last set came very close. No, I don't make a habit of visiting construction zones, just tame boring suburbs.
I'll have to look up the age of my front SO-3s when I get home. They are about due for replacement.

The Bridgestone SO3's lasted 8K on the rear of my GTS. The fronts look like new still at about 10K. I have Continental Extreme Contacts on the rear and time will tell.

Michelin Pilot Sports all around stock dimensions from the PO 5 years ago. Replaced the rears with same and they lasted perhaps 15k kms at Porsche pressures. New set of rears at GTS settings with 7.5k kms of wear seem like new.............I'm of the opinion that we can put the latest rubber on our cars and decrease pressure accordingly thus gaining relative good life time from sports tyres on an excellent GT car.........YMMV

I've put about 5000 miles on Yokohama AVS ES100's in the past year. Very little wear, and they don't "flat spot" anyway near as much as the Bridgestone's that I had on the car before.
Grip is average; I lowered my tire pressure last night from the 50 psi that I had been running, but I haven't driven the car since I'm in Los Angeles tonight. 25 psi with the gummy, nasty 275/40-17 Bridgestones [180 treadwear] resulted in a 13.86 second quarter mile....
