So both you and Devek will be selling your systems?

You will continue selling them as a DIY kit, and Devek selling them as a package, with install included?
Is that the plan? Or is Devek just going to be be the place that organizes and ships your kits?

Since the cat's out of the bag, give us the details!

We will sell both kits and as well as perfrom the occaisional install. We feel that the kit is so well designed, that most of the business will be to DIY'ers.

By using our market presence to resell the kits, we can help Andy reach a larger market, and that will be good for the market as well as both companies.

If these could get CARB certified, I think a lot of CA 928 owners would wet themselves. Isn't someone selling CARB certified SCs for 944s?

Default CARB certification question:

I noticed that Magnacharger indicates their systems are CARB certified and EPA exempt. Is this a manufacturer issue, ie would using their blower do it, or is it much more complicated?

Forgive my optimistic ignorance if wrong,
Thanks for your efforts!

The only thing stopping me from the SC is the removal to go thru smog. If something can be done about that then what Bdonaldson said.....

I agree that if a S/C kit was CARB (smog) approvd for CA....then it would be a simple decision. As much power as a stroker (which can pass smog, because the tech can't see it) for less than 1/2 the cost! But the additional labor of taking the S/C off every two years makes it serious PITA for street legal cars!

How long do you think it would take to install a supermodel? Generally I hear 6-8 hours depending on which stage you want to install?
Thanks

I believe its been discussed before.
In the (limited) research I have done what would probably have to happen at a minimum is that a car with the kit would have to be submitted to CARB for verification, for an undetermined amount of time.
I also think several model years would have to be submitted... model groups.
For example 85-86, 87-91 S-4, 89-91 GT, GTS's, etc. Due to FMU/ displacement issues.
Also I am certain this would have to be done for each type SC, lyscholm or eaton or other.

Anybody else with more knowldge on the subject...

I bet Devek could do it in under 4 hours... if they tell you 8 its because they spent the next 4 hours driving the hell out of it...

Seth, that's all fine and dandy but if someone as big as Devek is going to take the SC thing on - then perhaps a little investment in CARB certification is in order. I mean, your idea about removing it every two years is doable but it would sure be nice if you didn't have to.

Many, many supercharger kits for other vehicles are street legal in the Peoples Republic of California.

Oh, I'm all in favor of getting it CARB certified, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure that we will ever have the critical mass necessary to do this. I've got to believe it is a significant investment of time and resources. The market will dictate this.

I've seen comments that CARB certification is long and expensive, but I can't locate specifics. Also, I've seen comments that it adds a few $100 to the cost of a kit, but that obviously is amortized over some large number of kits. For a car no longer in production with only a few thousand made per year at most, I'm sure this is not practical, but I can't find specific information. This kit is simple enough to remove that I don't consider this a problem. Also, there are other ways to deal with this.
