polishing scratches out of glass??

I just used the kit from Eastwood for heavier scratches. It comes with the same polishing compound (I believe) but several different grit pads.
The work is still tedious and messy and there's no way you're going to polish out a moderate scratch in only a few minutes. On top of that, as I mentioned unless you're only taking out light scratches (and that still takes a long time) you're going to cause some distortion in the glass unless you blend the area by polishing the surrounding glass.

Huh, I thought the heavier kit probably came with a different grit compound. Makes sense that the pad would be different. I am working areas about 6"x6" or larger. I put a flood light inside the car and the scratches are easy to see against the black interior. So your scratches are coming out? Are you happy with the results? Trying to decide whether to keep going.

FWIW, my windshield (on which I succeeded removing a rather nasty scratch as described earlier) is a Sigla (43 R-001039, to be specific). Is this the same glass that's giving you trouble, Perry?

Arva Pilkington windshield and stock glas in the back. Neither one is working. I feel I have tried everything at this point except of course the heavy duty kit. There isnt really any way to not do it right. I have used slow and fast rpm and even worked it till it got pretty warm. still seeing scratches.
