Another Supercharged 928 GT
Hi all.
I have been installing a Murf SC kit on my '89 GT. Got to test drive it last night, and all I can say is HOLY SH@T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The car is a different animal. It was reasonably quick before, but now, it is a beast! First gear has needs gentle throttle application, or the tires just melt. Second gear will do the same, but plant you in the seat while burning the tires. Third gear keeps you planted hard in the seat . I ran out of room for much else. However, driving under light throttle the car drives like stock.
Thanks to Tim Murphy, who walked me through any questions I had and provided excellent support even while he was on vacation. Total time working at night in a very tiny and cold garage was less than 40 hours, including a TB retension and re-check of torque on the cam gear bolts. Everything fit, and went together quite easily. Truly "plug and play" so far.
I will get some pictures up in the next couple of days. Before anybody asks-I have not dyno'd after the SC yet, that will be sometime soon depending on snow and salt on the roads. No g-tech either since I can spin the 17" 255's until they melt in the cold (26 degrees F). I will be getting new wheels and tires this spring to cope with the new power.
One side benefit, my bad wheelhop is gone. The tires spin freely, then when they grip you are just GONE. I also think this is the level of power the car should have had from the factory. To anyone on the fence-if you can, get a ride in a boosted 928. Difficult to describe the difference.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rambling and Happy New Year to everyone.

Jim,
Congrats - I can't wait to take a test drive I can only imagine how cold you've been the last few days completing the install. Let me know when you want to hit the dyno (assuming the weather gets better and the roads clear up) - I want to join you and reevaluate my HP with my operational flappy. I can wait to s/c my own baby

Jim,
Congratulations on the successful install!! I can't wait to come out and take a peek at a live Murph SC install. I should be heading down that same road shortly . . . I hope!

Congratulations, and welcome to the MURF928 SuperShark Club!
Looking forward to whenever you can get around to dynoing it...
Hey Gretch, there's three of you guys now; Carl and Z did a MURF928 SuperShark install on a GT a couple of months ago.

Was it an 89? I know there was a 90 or a 91 done, but I was unaware of another 89GT......

Thanks everyone.
Doug-call or e-mail me for anytime after New Years- my wife needs a break from me being out in the garage.
Flott- PM sent, sorry we didn't get together during the install.
Hopefully, the pictures are attached-first time trying.

WOW that intercoller looks bigger than the ones i've seen before... is it the picture or is it just a bigger beefed up version for more cooling? I am definately for more cooling power...

Jim - That install looks great! Awsome job! Doesn't NY have a visual inspection each year? I think that the 5 boroughs also include tailpipe sniffing too (am I right?). Keep up the great work! Good thing you don't have OBDII, because that information goes to Albany now (that started in October of this year I beleive).

Chris,
That is the standard intercooler. It is a tight fit, but I have taken it out and reinstalled it in less than 10 minutes.

Paul,
NY does have a visual and "rolling road dyno" test each year. I have a shop that deals with modified cars all the time, and will pass it IF it passes the sniffer test. I still have the stock cats, so I am hopeful about passing with the 30# injectors. If not, I will put the 19# ones back in and stay out of the boost to drive to and from the test. Either way not too big of a deal.
