Stuart, thanks again for the 928 keys, they work great. One thought I had, maybe you could offer beveling/polishing for a small addtional charge? The 928 key is much nicer to handle with the sharp edges removed and the point rounded off (like you are already doing.) I have no problem dehorning my own keys but many 928 owners would probably like that taken care of for a nominal fee.
Cheers,
-Joel.

Hi Stuart,
I already did mine, thanks. I just thought you might offer it as a service at additional cost, and maybe suggest it on these clunky 928 keys

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to report that when I bought the GT it only came with 1 key for the doors and ignition. I sent Stuart a couple of pics and a week later (yesterday) I got the keys in the mail and they work slicker than snot! I am one super happy camper! I highly recommend Stuart and keys4classics.com for you 928 key making needs.

I got mine back (2) and they work in the ign and both doors but not the hatch. The original does work the hatch. Stuart says this isn't unusual....
Per Stuart's instructions, I'm WD40-ing the hatch lock to death. I'm not sure why this should work, since the original key works fine, but we'll give it a try!

Just something to add to this thread. My digitial camera wasn't able to get in close enough to get a decent or sharp shot of the cuts.
I ended up using a scanner and it worked a treat producing a nice clean image that they were able to work from. My new keys worked perfectly when I received them and I'm very happy.
I assume that a photo is still the best option but if you're stuck then give a scanner a try.

I received my keys from Stuart at Keys4classics.com yesterday. From Australia to Montreal, Canada took just under 2 weeks.
I went home last night and tried them right away. Both (long alarm) keys worked flawlessly in both doors, the hatch, and the ignition
I used tw1963's suggestion, and instead of a digital camera I scanned the key on a desktop scanner. Easy to do and came out great!
Here's a scan of the original, and the key from Keys4classics. I would have liked the keyhead to be a little smaller, but I'm a very happy customer. Thanks Stuart

Hi Brian, great scans, I can easily decode from them!
Yes the keys for 928 are proving very successful after our research to get
them right.
PORSCHE 928
The keys and locks for Porsche 928 are of a very unusual design and are the
most problematic of any motor vehicle that we know. We even hear of new,
original keys from Porsche that do not work. So you need to approach the
purchase of keys for your 928 with some patience and a willingness to work
with us to provide keys that will serve you well.
We make new keys by decoding an existing key (from an emailed photo) to
determine the precise cuts required, it's more reliable than from a database
or a recorded code. The latest high-technology computer controlled equipment
ensures that your new key is cut with the greatest precision. We have a very
high (but not perfect) rate of success with our keys working in 928 locks at
the first attempt. We offer a 100% money-back warranty on our keys, so if
for any reason our keys do not function well, you can return them for a
full refund. Your only cost is the return postage.
For us to provide you with new keys we require clear, sharp, high resolution
digital photos of a working key-- read on for detailed instructions.
Note- we cannot cut keys to your VIN (vehicle identification number or
"chassis" number) or from Porsche's key code.
Our prices are: (US$) * Note large discounts for multiple keys *
FOR LOCKS WITH ALARM (LONGER KEY)
1 key $39.95, 2 keys $64.00, 3 keys $84.00 including decoding, quality key
blanks, cutting (to the same code) and a 100% money-back guarantee.
Post/handling is $3.95 per order.
FOR LOCKS WITHOUT ALARM (SHORTER KEY)
1 key $35.95, 2 keys $57.50, 3 keys $75.50 including decoding, quality key
blanks, cutting (to the same code) and a 100% money-back guarantee.
Post/handling is $3.95 per order.
*** for repeat orders we discount $12 for each decoding already done ***
Yes we can make a short (non-alarm) key from a long (alarm key), but not
vice versa. Pricing is the same as for regular short (non-alarm) keys and
there is no additional cost for the long-to-short conversion.
Our keys are high quality and similar to the originals but do not have a
Porsche name or logo; they're made in Italy by Silca or Orion. See key
blanks here ---> http://www.keys4classics.com/html/Por928.html
