Question Digital instrument cluster

Has anyone installed 1990 and newer instruments into an older 928? Is it possible? How do you do it? Is there a way to change the digital odometer to match the original mileage?

Thanks

Mike
The digital instrument cluster is significantly different to the previous version. It would involve a major rewiring job to do the conversion and several associated systems would have to be replaced. Almost certainlty it would be cheaper to replace the car! The reading of a NEW digital odometer can be set to match the original mileage but a used one with more than 250 miles on it cannot be changed.

Don't the later speedos get their pulses from the ABS controller, rather than the tranny? Different number of pulses per rev IIRC.

Nope ,Nope, and Nope ......the mere thought of it makes me want to run screaming through the warehouse pulling out handfuls of my hair Besides the digital dash was a BAD idea even when fitted at the factory ! Who needs a $3,000 instrument cluster ?? They built the central warning brain into the multitude of circuits inside the cluster as I recall.

As I recall, the inputs are all normal except for the gas mileage readout, which uses Injector Pulsewidth to figure the numbers. John Speake corrected me on this, though, so check with him. I'd say its doable, but thats me.

Like I said the central warning brain which was under the left foot dead pedal is now inside the cluster so all of the warning signal wires which used to go to the dead pedal area now go directly into the cluster. The wiring is significantly different. Could it be done? yes Should it be done NO and how long would it take ?

Sounds like Sterling has a new project.....would be ironic if it turned out more difficult than his vario-cam engine!
