I bought my GTS from Michael Willhoit and am quite happy with what I got and what I paid. Whether anyone cares to know it or not, he is a stand up guy...at least he was for me. I got a GTS in very fine condition and I had no issues paying the price I paid. As a matter of fact, I see it as if I paid a 3rd of the price that the car initially sold for. Never the less, I feel it was worth every penny and I am sure I can get more for the car now. I could care less what he paid for it. He found it, he had the ***** to step up and buy it, he took the time to inspect and service it, fix any items to make it right and resell it. The guy does this all the time and has for over 20 years. He has a reputation of selling quality cars and folks feel better about buying from someone that does this as their business, rather than a private seller. He has a lot of happy buyers whether anyone cares to believe it or not.
Now, what blows me away...is the bitchin and sniveling about the price of 928's. Wake up! These were the HIGH End cars of their day. We are extremely fortunate to actually own these cars, at a cost far less than ever imagined. How many of us would have had the ability to buy these new or near new when they were in production. Not ME!!!! It is as if 928 owners want to see the value in the sh*tter on these car's. I think it is a GREAT thing when a car of fine condition sells for a high price. Looks to me that "WE" are the problem over the value of these cars being so low.
Ebay has hundreds of thousands of folks hitting the auction board daily....that weren't there the day or week before. There are probably over a thousand folks a day "just dropping in" to see whats out there. They don't even have a clue to search for previous info...why should they even care anyway? If they want that particular item, then they will buy it. If they want to buy it cheaper, they will find it cheaper...this happens a million times a day in the USA. Buying and then selling for more is what I do for a living...does anyone else do that to???...oh yeah, the Big 3! hmmmmm
I just don't get it!

Let's face it, Willhoit buys nice cars with little or no issues to begin with, then does a nice detail job on them and resells. If a car requires any major issues to be addressed he'll pass on them......pure and simple, seen it many times.
If paying someone thousands of $$$ to do some simple ground work is not a problem, Willhoit is your man, but my contentions still stand........he adds no
actual value to the car at all........just an inflated price tag.

I don't want to get into any long discussions about brokers, but I will say this, I always have a complete service history on every 928 I sell. I usually have every service record since new including the original window stickers.
Take the '94 GTS that I just sold to CMW a month ago. I had every service record from Reeves Porsche from day one, including the dealer delivery inspection right on up to the last service done only 800 miles before I sold it. I wouldn't have had it any other way.
But yes, some dealers do purge service histories. Most likely to hide negative reports. But I don't think that Willhoit, for example, would do such a thing. His cars are usually very, very low mileage cars, and I think he even states that he has a full service history on most of them.
go easy on me Red!

He bought a car for less than the market will bare. Willhoit has the ability to do this. Everyone else had the chance to buy this very same car the first time around, but instead, Willhoit did. Now he's listed it for a profit. That's how business works.
I don't know why everyone gets so bent out of shape about this topic?
When you buy a loaf of bread at the store, you pay what that grocier is asking for it. Now, he just bought that very same loaf of bread from the Sunbeam Bread Co. for much less than what you just paid. Is that wrong? Or should he pass it on to you for what he paid?
Now of course you could personally go to the Sunbeam Bread Co. and buy a loaf of bread for close to what the grocier paid for it, but instead you most likely just pay what the grocier is asking for it. Your paying for convenience and selection.
It's no different with cars. Willhoit has buying power and can purchase as many excellent examples as he wishes to buy. You know what he does and you don't have to buy from him. You are paying for convienience and packaging, nothing more. That is how he makes a living. Don't hate him for it. It's the American way!
Of course, this will frustrate alot of you because you know better. You know how to go out and find these cars and know what you can really buy them for. That is to your advantage, and you will most likely never be a customer of Willhoits. But I seriously doubt that he will be losing any sleep over it.
His customers are going to consist of rather wealthy individuals who neither have the time or energy to search for the car of their dreams and are willing to pay a little, or sometimes alot extra for their dream car. That will never change.
Count yourself as lucky for having the knowledge of these cars and of buying them. This will save you alot of money on your next 928. But don't hate the guy who makes a living out of doing something he's obviously very good at and makes a very good living doing. Otherwise, next you'll be boycotting your local grocier!

He bought it from a gentlemen in Miami (breadmaker), had it shipped to his lot in Missouri (grocery store), and put a premium on the product for his time, knowledge and expertise.
It doesn't take a genious to follow my storyline, does it?
Your analogy makes absolutely no sense. Just pure anger, motivated by jealousy. Stupid.

Willhoit gave up all service records he had to me on my car. He gave me the phone number of the mechanic that had worked on the car for the last 7 or 8 years...previous to that is was the dealer as the manual has the stamps. He gave out phone numbers of previous buyers to me.and I DID call them. They were truthful as they didn't stroke me...they told me if they had problems, but Will hoit took care of them.
Major issues being passed onto others...how about some proof?...REALLY!
He replaced some things on my car, though nothing absolutely major. The guy will refund 100% of your money, less the shipping costs, if you do not like the car (for ANY reason). Show me a private owner that will do that. I had a couple of issues after I had the car a week or two and he took care of it...nothing high dollar, but he did it, knowing damn well I would never go to court over it.
...and Tom missed out!!!
BTW, anyone ever been a seller at a swap meet or flea market??? Other sellers will come up and buy your items and then walk back to their area and put them up for sale at a higher price...happens ALL the time. 928's are no exception to what is bought and re sold on eBay.
You want STUPID??? Let's talk about gold and diamonds!!!!

eBay is a great source of vehicles. I bought my 89 there. Great transaction from the original owner.
So, anyway, there's no need for you to take this as some kind of assault on you or Wilhoit and feel a need to defend him. I already did. I'm more puzzled by the bidders.

* A pristine, no issue, 2 owner car with history from day one.
* All records.
* Phone numbers to original owner.
* Phone number to the only mechanic that ever worked on the car (both previous owners)
* PPI, all fluids changed, timing belt adjustment.......all paid for by the owner, not me. New tires already on the car.
* No deposit required, offered one, seller wouldn't accept.......my "word" was good enough.
* An agreement that I could walk away upon seeing the car if I didn't like it.
* Free airport pickup and steak dinner.
Any you know what? All I had to do is talk to the owner(s) and mechanic over the phone a few times in order to get it done.......about a $40 phone tab. Hmmmm, $40 and my own judgement vs. $5k and someone elses "reputation"........I sure am glad I did it myself.

Bill clearly you're a ball of pent-up anger and tense muscle. Maybe it's time you gave serious consideration to anger management .... GOOOOOZ ..... FRAAAA... BAAAAA...... or, just as good, go buy the movie, it's definitely a keeper alongside Office Space
