Sales *****???? Nice……..that’s really nice.
Boy, you guys just don’t get it do you. You should be thanking Willhoit for keeping the prices up on your GT’s and GTS’s. Unless of course you want your asset to depreciate – so you can loose money when you sell it. Hmmm……….
Unless you are in this business then you are merely speculating – you have no earthly clue what it takes to make these cars as close to showroom new as we can make them.
Shoot, transport from Miami to Springfield alone is $1,000 – it adds up quickly.
If you ever find yourself passing thru Missouri – stop in I will show you exactly what we do and what it costs us to make a car the best it can be.
What I want to know is who died and made you guys used car dealer experts?
Can I ask what you all do for a living so we can critique how you make money?
This business is hard – it takes a lot of time and effort to get a car ready and then to sell it and yes, sometimes we make a home run – but that is very rare.
Like someone posted before – you all have just as much right as we do to buy these cars.
As for us not being an enthusiast – you couldn’t be farther from the truth. Willhoit loves 928’s that is why he stocks them. He was in a head on collision in a 928 going 70 mph (non airbag car) and he walked away. A Doctor was trying to commit suicide - driving drunk down the wrong side of the Interstate at 2 am with no lights on. He says the car saved his life
As for hanging out here – sure we check in every now and then – most of the time to get a good laugh – but to also learn – you can never know too much about Porsche’s. Oh, and there is the times that someone will call us and alert us that you “experts” are talking about us again. Hey, we appreciate the entertainment.

Someone may have bought the car. I did the same thing, saw the car on eBay and immedaitely called Willhoit and cut a deal. The car never sold on eBay. I got it for less than what he was offering and the reserve was never met.

Incidently, I can guarantee that this is not an isolated incident on eBay. There are hundreds of people buying on eBay and turning around immediately and reselling for more...this is an online swap meet.

Now I could care less if I get flamed for this, but I would do the same thing as Willhoit does....and be happy about it and sleep well at night. Forget that this is a 928 and things may become a little bit clearer.

It still cracks me up that most owners don't want to pay Sh*t for there car, but value it at much more...AND will pay incredible prices for parts and not think twice or bitch about it!!!!!!!!! I can see that this subject will never die...LOL

Werlcome, Merry (are you a hobbit? - kidding!)

Don't let these guys get under your skin - I've never been able to understand why a handful get so riled up on this issue.

The tone of this post is certainly in keeping with 100% of my experiences with used car salesmen. Just a little pointer "Merry" ... on people-skills .... if you're insincere, that shines through no matter how you sugar-coat it. Here's the clue: addressing ***the entire group of us*** in this manner will buy you no friends. Didn't in my case.

This same old thread of Willhoit (and other brokers) bashing sure is getting old! I hear from more than a few of his customers when they register their cars on my web site and they all speak very highly of him and his business practices. Frankly, these brokers/sellers are taking all the risks and keeping the values of these cars high and unless your an immediate buyer I don't see why that's bad. Besides, if you're an immediate buyer you could always outbid them for the car. In my business, I sell my products for as much as I can, as often as I can for as long as I can........., don't you?

Every time I see ANOTHER thread on this SAME old tired beaten to death subject I want to post this pic: Not sure who originally posted it but it sure fits this topic!

“Sales *****???? Nice……..that’s really nice.” Merry, don’t take it personal, it was meant to be funny! For the record, I did not even assume you are a female. I’m a equal opportunity offender. But at least we know what your position is at Willhoit Enterprises/Premier Sportscars (used car sales EXPERT).
________________________________________________________

“Boy, you guys just don’t get it do you…” I think you have let a few of the guys here get the best of you. Remember what you said in your previous post “…most of the time to get a good laugh and we appreciate the entertainment …” There’s nothing wrong with that, keeping threads like this on the light side is a good thing. Maybe next time you can avoid turning someone’s thread into a flame war which helps no one and does little for the companies you represent.
________________________________________________________

“What I want to know is who died and made you guys used car dealer experts?” Well for one, no one had to die! I can say this from personal experience and knowledge that a few Rennlist Members and visitors, have extensive automotive related experience that range from, but is not limited to; Automotive manufacturing, The manufacturing of automotive products, Automotive sales (new/Corporate), Automotive Sales (new & used consumer), Automotive recycling (junk yard), Automotive service consultant (service writer), Automotive reconstruction specialist (Paint and body repair) Automotive reconstruction estimator (coalition estimate writer), Automotive parts consultant (new & used part sales) and a few others I’m sure.
_______________________________________________________

Merry, maybe you can talk to your bosses about the one issue in my previous post that you chose not to comment on.

“But there should be a little more balance in this trade. Maybe if the brokers/used car dealers/sales ***** (sales expert) were to come here with true deals and honest background on the cars first, there would be less criticism and hard feelings.”

Maybe if some of the brokers/used car dealers/sales ***** (sales expert) that visit the Rennlist were to give “RENNLIST MEMBERS ONLY” a heads up, and a chance at buying a 928 direct from the seller once or twice a year some of the misconceptions people have about brokers/used car dealers would be less.

.....and it will probably sell to someone who saw it on eBay but didn't bid on the car. eBay is cheap advertising with lots of exposure.

Your statement leads me to believe you are clueless as to the type of people that frequent this board.

How many people here would put up $42,000 cash so they could maybe make $5000 in 1-24 months?

Let not assume the buy-in on the car in question was any were near 42K!

How about this one!

I advertise my 89 S4 on eBay for 20K with no reserve; of course few are going to bit, yet.

Now, I get a few of my friends from around the world to start biding on it and drive the price up say 25K. The winning bidder is one of my many aliases or my buddy the auto broker. Being that eBay has no way of knowing who knows who, everything looks legit.

Now my buddy the auto broker lists my car on eBay for sale at 26.5K under his company name (keep in mind no paper or money has ever exchanged hands and the car is still in my garage). If there is no interest, the game starts all over again until it sells.

Fruit for thought!

Oh baby, did Merry open up a can of shi*?

1st, "Who are we?" We are the buyers dumb****! I hate to put it that blunt but you are talking to the most informed group of 928 owners probably in the world.

2nd, It's not Wilhoit that most people have a problem with, it's the "brokers" that never even see the cars but try to get a premium out of them that are the main target.

3rd, You want a good laugh? I am co-owner of a shop that specializes in 928's and 944's. To think that you are the "God Almighty" of 928's is insane. I'm quite sure that Wilhoit would love to get his hands on our 89' GT but believe it or not, we are in the same business as you. Some of us out here are more "experts" than you and this is your selling pool? Come to Utah and we will show you a true enthusiest's shop, not a "reseller". Our first purpose is not to buy decent examples and prime them up for sale, it is to enhance the breed. Between my partner & I we own 14 928's, several of which will be for sale when we think the market is ready for them. Not all as some are for personal use. What do you drive? Or race?

I see nothing wrong with trying to get the value of 928's where they should be but it's the paper thin phony's that are only trying to make a quick buck off of a uninformed seller that ****'s me off. Then again, there are those people that think they know all about 928's and think everyone else on this board are uninformed idiots...........

Merry, feel free to PM me, maybe I can help you tune, repair and clean up your 928's for less than 30%! It's not that hard if you know what you are dealing with.

This stuff is all getting out of hand now, here are the only points I wanted to make and think are valid.....

Willhoit (and whomever else) are not "bad" guys......I'm sure they sell great cars.....

They *do not* keep the value of anything up as they sell such a small portion of what actually changes hand. Well kept/un-modified/low mileage cars will always bring more than a crappy
example that needs a some work.

They *do not* add any REAL value to these cars.....maybe some perceived value to some buyers who don't want to do some simple research. Real value would be a free 6 year 100,000 mile warranty on the car......not replacing a window switch or some other minor problem after the sale.......you could have done that and much more with the $6k you would have saved by doing your own due diligence.

If paying a "dealer" 20% of the cars price in profit eases your mind, even after the same exact car was available 1 week before........and nothing has really changed since then, then good for you. I just don't share the same belief.......

Ketchmi,

I would also have to assume that your not refering to me as one of those paper thin phonies.

Just for the record. I actually own and drive every singly 928 that I've ever sold. I do not have the cars shipped to me, but rather fly in and drive them home personally. For one, I do this for the pure love of these cars, and two, so that I can get a true feel for what the car will need to make it perfect for resale.

I own and constantly drive each car for over two months before I sell each one. I have now owned over 40 different 928's. I've owned 4 of the so called elusive '89 GT's, all with less than 30,000 miles on them, 8 GTS 5 speeds, 4 GTS automatics etc. I do know these cars.

I enjoy what I do and will continue to do so. I will most likely make a profit on what I sell. And I will sell only exceptional examples of these beautiful machines.

No hard feelings.
