Don't forget the white '89 GT with full red leather that sold a month ago and was just on ebay. The ad sounded like the owner has had it for a while, and mentions loss of job as the reason for selling. Total BS.

The funniest thing about this is that any idiot can find that Wilhoit paid $42K for the same car less than 2 weeks ago by just looking at his very first feedback item from the PO. 1st rule of eBay bidding - check the seller's feedback! Comppaqq and dclark407q ought to know better or just don't care.

Wilhoit could have asked the PO not to post feedback, but it's right there for anyone to see, with the previous auction two clicks away from the current auction page. I can't see that he is guilty of anything other than trying to capitalize on what he thinks was an undervalued purchase (I don't think even a nice 93 like this is worth $48K). It takes some ***** however to presume that you could turn it around in the same venue a week later and expect that bidders would not get wise. He's found some blind or careless bidders.

OMG, not this again!
People, it's just business, nothing more.
He bought a car for less than the market will bare. Willhoit has the ability to do this. Everyone else had the chance to buy this very same car the first time around, but instead, Willhoit did. Now he's listed it for a profit. That's how business works.
I don't know why everyone gets so bent out of shape about this topic?
When you buy a loaf of bread at the store, you pay what that grocier is asking for it. Now, he just bought that very same loaf of bread from the Sunbeam Bread Co. for much less than what you just paid. Is that wrong? Or should he pass it on to you for what he paid?
Now of course you could personally go to the Sunbeam Bread Co. and buy a loaf of bread for close to what the grocier paid for it, but instead you most likely just pay what the grocier is asking for it. Your paying for convenience and selection.
It's no different with cars. Willhoit has buying power and can purchase as many excellent examples as he wishes to buy. You know what he does and you don't have to buy from him. You are paying for convienience and packaging, nothing more. That is how he makes a living. Don't hate him for it. It's the American way!
Of course, this will frustrate alot of you because you know better. You know how to go out and find these cars and know what you can really buy them for. That is to your advantage, and you will most likely never be a customer of Willhoits. But I seriously doubt that he will be losing any sleep over it.
His customers are going to consist of rather wealthy individuals who neither have the time or energy to search for the car of their dreams and are willing to pay a little, or sometimes alot extra for their dream car. That will never change.
Count yourself as lucky for having the knowledge of these cars and of buying them. This will save you alot of money on your next 928. But don't hate the guy who makes a living out of doing something he's obviously very good at and makes a very good living doing. Otherwise, next you'll be boycotting your local grocier!

NOT..............
His customers ... if capable of finding his auction on ebay ... were also capable of finding the same deal at $6,400 less at the same venue.
The issue is that no value was added. We are not saying the seller does not have the right to make a profit exactly like this. In fact he does. Just like an 80-year-old man has the absolute legal right to date your 18yo daughter and have 20 kids with her if she consents and if he wants. We are saying that this kind of profiteering is in our minds not acceptable.
Low Miler, if you defend someone like that you are of course viewed in the same light. Are your dealings similar? I thought not.

Now I'm Pissed. I knew that damn Baker at the Grocery store was screwing me.
Yeah, but did you buy a standard loaf or was it fully loaded? Maybe there were some 'hidden' charges involved too?

I'm a lurker since I am contemplating a 928 in the near future. I've read the past threads about brokers. IMHO what the current seller of the GTS discussed here is doing is no different than what any other car dealer does. Purchase a car at auction or acquire it via trade in (below retail value), clean it up, put it on the lot or on the web and sell it for a profit.
Personally, I will do the legwork myself and save the money rather than pay someone else to do it for me (it took me 9 months to find my 911).

No I am not a broker, nor am I affiliated with one.

What's NOGAF mean?

My question is don't these 'dealers' usually shaft all the records? Never seen a dealer have a complete history or service record of a car. Guess they don't care about the cars history and only thing Ferengi care about is profit?
I wonder what the price of a GTS would be if Halliburton was dealing them? Couldn't be much worse.

Low Miler -
As usual you missed the point again........I really don't care what Willhoit does as there is nothing wrong with it. He's just taking advantage of idiots who can't think or research for themselves. He does not "add" any value to any car, and people who buy from him deserve to get taken.
As far as the "what the market will bare" idea goes........most professional sellers whether it be homes, cars, etc......put a reasonable time limit on how long it should take to sell a given item. If it doesn't sell within that time period the price is usually reduced to speed along the process. I've seen Willhoit sit on a car close to 2 years before selling it, sorry this is not what the market would bare, but extreme cases where some unknowing person simply falls for the car and doesn't realize that 99% of comparable items sold for a lot less. Just a few uninformed consumers at one extreme end of the bell curve......but as the old adage goes "there's a sucker born every minute".
