Now Andy, where is that blower for the very brown 1980 ?
Yeah Andy whats up with the old bugger kits?
Now that I have some space to work it will come quickly. I suspect that I'll have something in time for Santa to put under the tree. I already have half the parts for the system produced as it will borrow from the 32V setup.

forget about all those old cars andy, tell us GTS owners (engine anyway, in pieces..) about a workable solution!
The polar silver GTS is running. I'll update on that when I have driven it more. I won't have anything new to report untill just before thanksgiving.

".....I can't beleive there are at least half a dozen supercharged cars on the list - maybe more."

I've actually sold well over a dozen myself with several more orders. There are at least 8 SUPERMODELS on the street now. 7 of them including me are rennlisters. Several more have partly installed, pulleys, gauges, etc. I have about 14 sets of pulleys now and several manifolds and intercoolers that will be completed shortly. After those sets of pulleys are gone I don't know what will happen because best I can tell, I am not profiting at all, possibly loosing money. I may sellout to a retail distributor ( I have word that a major Porsche patrs distributor is interested) which will charge much more for my product. Or I may have to raise the prices and or sell only in complete kit form.
Having said that, should anyone come up with a kit that is remotely similar to mine to sell, be prepared to pay some healthy legal fees. My legal serivces are free as my lawyer (and close friend since age 15) drives a SUPERMODEL. Sorry for the legal talk but I believe I deserve to profit or at least break even before before anyone else gets in the game.

Richard why would I ever have to pay you? BTW I don't consider our systems to be alike. I am specifically talking about a valley intercooled system. Your system has virtually no influence from mine and mine even less from yours.

Hey Andy,

Just the word "lawyer" made me cringe.... (And I have a few that I use for various things who are good.!) I still cringe, especially when I see the bill...!

Anyway, Good that we see no similarities.

Building and selling supercharger "KITS" is beginning to look like a way to make a small fortune........................out of a large one. Building and selling stroker engines would appear to have some similarities. The market is relatively small and the development costs in time and/or money far exceeds anything you can imagine , until you have done it. For every 100 people who would like to do it ,talk about doing it , maybe one does. Then the unfortunate reality is after it is all done , all the issues worked out it all looks so simple ,so easy ,like everything just "belongs". Then if you are really"lucky" someone simply "copies" the end result and undercuts the price or the vendor of various parts begins to retail them directly........................ great way to make a small fortune. In my opinion it is a labor of love but even that seems to be in somewhat short supply at times .

or is it REALITY ?? remember you are not paranoid if the CIA is actually following you ..... The 928 performance parts "business" has proven history of not being a viable project and those who engage in it typically quickly expand their market to include standard replacement parts, and /or service work in an attempt to make it fly. Either they go out of business or eventually "expand" the market to include other models of Porsche cars or other makes. Because no matter how much you can get a few people to spend on their 928 it really is a very small market. The number of people willing to invest another $7,000 to $25,000 plus the regular $2,500 to $3,000 per year into a car which sells now for $6,000 -$20,000 has proven to be quite small. And that is a FACT. All of which means I have the greatest admiration for the enthusiasm and commitment of all those who have invested their time and money in these projects. But I believe it has been a labor of love .

Yes my car is running..... we are still tuning which is why I haven't posted anything yet.
Not really anything difficult but since I am the operations officer for the largest Marine Corps Recruiting Station in the country I have been working 12-15 hours a day 6 days a week. Ok on Saturday only 8-10.
I guess all the hours will prevent us from going to a draft.

So close... so so close, then the GTS will come by storm.
I heard Tony's car was awsome at Sharktoberfest... I am jelous, well almost.

Jim, and Mark A... can a patriotic 928 fanatic get a Sharktober hat....
pleaseeeee....

Jim,

Yes it is a labor of love...but I think one can make money at this. There are poeple spending lots of cash on 944 turbos, so why not the 928? You think Murf isn't making big bucks margin per kit....don't kid yourself...the same setup for a Mustang or Camaro is a fraction of the price...

And for Z....there were two reasons I did not dyno the Goldmember:
1. I had to work on Monday morning and Kansas is 750+ miles from Kentucky. We left at 7:00 AM on Sunday, we got home at like 9:30 PM.
2. I really didn't feel like completely blowing up an already weak transmission that was having issues holding the torque the car is putting out. As you recall, I drove my car so the luxury of towing it did not exist.

Such a shame you didn't introduce yourself. As I recall I did meet Tony and we had a nice conversation. Maybe next time Z?

All the Sharktoberfest hats are gone , Keith and Jen sold them last weekend. I expect them to begin appearing soon on E-bay as limited edition collectibles................seriously they are gone.

I'm looking real hard here John... and I see no huge profit for any of these guys. Time and Energy is being paid for a little bit, but its not a large or even moderate margin here.

John - I priced out a SC kit using my friends account with Viortech, I came up with around $4400 COGS including Intercooler, DEVEK custom SC level radiator with Spal fans, Super FMU, bosch electric, water pump, injectors and a host of other little tidbits, including dynamic belt tensioner from a "truck" The one item that had to be ordered in lots of 10 were the SC bracket and the pulley spacers....but that is manufactuing. BTW, did you use water cooled turbos?

Hey, I know you showed up for the shootout at the ICOC, did any of the "big Guns" show up and demo how to build 928 engines with 41 psi boost?

And I am with ya...lets have 5.0 vs 5.0 vs 5.0 boosted shootout! Lets spec91 octane fuel, tires and rim width and do 4 events....average of 10 dyno pulls one right after the other, 1/4 mile drag, 1KM drag and 3 laps at some track by an independent driver...Kim Crumb??? Winner gets bragging rights!

Any takers?

Marc
