I can see someone modifying cat-bypass nights now into an x-type junction. Or perhaps even cutting the cats off the factory exhaust and putting a x-junction there too!

is the O2 sensor connected to the factory cats? I'm thinking of making my own cross-over pipe now. If I can only get my mits on a beat up hollowed cats S4 downpipe

Don't be too concerned guys. Its the PnP issue that you are obviously upset about - but with reference to hooking these things up with some extra work, there is a nice solution here:

www.jegs.com also has them too. I am thinking of keeping mine within factory diameter piping so that the flow is even and not going through reducers. 2.25" is small for each engine bank yes, but I don't have 2,000 for a Devek stage 2 header and exhaust system.

Andy,
A talented Rod shop with a good welder can fit an X pipe in place before the cats on your car. The O2 sensor goes in the crossover, or the "H" Pipe on the stock system. No reason you can't pay $100 for a pipe from Dr. Gas, and have it welded in for $300-$400. The X will smoothen the flow and decrease turbulence caused by the firing order in bent crank V8's. This is from Dr. Gas who invented the X Pipe. He also said not to put the X more than 12-14 inches from the header.
The cats work fine where they are now, and that is where my Randoms are located, same place as the factory cats. Randoms are just a whole lot shorter...
Some people told me to put the cats up closer to the header, but Dr. Gas told me it was not necessary, and Porsche put the "H" Crossover before the Cats....
My $.02, good luck..

ah, thanks for the advice. I was also aiming to make a cat-bypass too, hence the reason of cutting the cats off. I want more noise out of my shark, yet keep the intermediate mufflers and an RMB. I'll be sure though to keep the cross over right at the point where the 2 pipes turn into eachother to keep the distance closer to the header. I need to look at a factory downpipe with the cats still on it so i can make some drawings and measurements.

sorry guys one more question about the x-pipe. Summit's x-pipe is a 2.5" pipe diameter. now if I expend the inlet diameter from 2.25" to 2.5" then reduce the outlets after the x-pipe back to 2.25" fot match the factory pipes, will their be any restriction in this? again, keeping the diameter of the factory piping is the issue for now. I could get this done over the weekend if could just find a dead cat still attached to the downpipes.
