I'm still looking for info about RHD numbers, 927 921 like in ColinB's '89 GT or something else?

Let's give the guy a break for a few more days, before he gets attacked by sharsters again.
BTW: As a think you for helping us out, I sent him a Jörg Austen book at my expense. I think I should find some stuff he could look up for ME... Actually, he looked up the canary yellow car for me. Gosh, I forgot to buy a lottery ticket today!!!

Nicole;
Cannary yellow?? Do tell!! The S4 on Ebay or another one...?
Supposedly, there is a yellow GTS somewhere in the southern states. I can think of three sharksters eager to get their hands on it.

It's the one on ebay that we discussed in a different thread. The neglected former show car. My friend owned the sister car - a 924 S with black leather sports seats.

nicole,
looking for xx5, xz9 and 09981 and 10141
interestingly, my 90gt has some codes for options that it doesn't have and some options for which the codes are not there.

Hello,
I just purchased a 1985 944 and listed on the option sticker was
715
I tried the Rennlist option decoder and it didn't resolve but my copy of Original Porsche 924/944/968 by Peter Morgan did have it:
M715 Control PV-U production pilot run (944)
This is backed up on this site. I'm trying to find out what this option means, who would know that I could email/talk to?

"R-Program" is 1994 model year. Maybe the option code means "1993 model year in 1992"? I don't know... at least not, yet.
The model years are described nicely in Jörg Austen's Book "Porsche 928 - Die technische Dokumentation des Transaxle-Achtzylinders" - good stuff, even if you don't read German, since most of the technical data, drawings, and pictures are internationally digestable.... I still have a stack of those books here, and extend my earlier special offer of $48 including shipping inside the US and Canada until October 15.

The 718 was a universal code that Porsche used to identify Vin number change as you figured. They used this many times for many models. My '94 3.6 Turbo has '93 P program engine serial number, build May '93 with '94 R program Vin number. The car was delivered June of '93 special order and was considered a '94 MY. Check your engine serial number for an N in the number. The N series were built between Aug 91 and July 92 with the P series starting Aug 92 until April 93. You probably have an Aug or Sep build with 92 "N" program engine. I believe this is universal throughout all Porsche models.

In 928's case 718 only applies to so called early '93 US GTS models that were build between early spring '92 and end of N model year 08/92. Those have P VIN and N engine code when ROW cars have normal N on both. There shouldn't be any US model GTS with build date prior to about January '92. At that time there were already perhaps few hundred ROW GTS around.

Don't know if it was trouble or factory just weren't ready/didn't want to import GTS during late '91 into USA.
Their VIN's should be WP0AA292_PS815001...5148 (or 5149) of which 5001...5060 was reserved for prototypes and special cars. So there are 88 (or 89) US normal production GTS with P VIN and 718 option. 148 comes from Jörg Austen's book and 149 from Chuck's 928 Registry.
