2. But I think I'd like three.

So, how can one constructively use the results (to date) of this poll?
Let's see - the third largest voting block has 3 cars ... -- do you think I can effectively use this with the S.O. in a campaign to rationalize adding a third 928??

here you go,
as of now there are 159 owners representing 286 cars, with owners of 3 representing 8.7%
however, the percentage of owners with 3 OR MORE 928s is 16% almost double that

Oh Randy that is a low blow ! suffice it to say having 1 or 2 928s is "normal" anything more is NOT. But many people go through life making it a point not to be average !

Multiple Car owners
OK...justwondering. It seems since I've been lurking, reading, and learning, (thanks)...here on the 928 board, I've noticed "lots"... of you fellows, are multiple shark owners...this makes me wonder, "why have 3 or 4 of these cars...when you, (and me)...can really only have 1 favorite ride...and the cost of owning and properly maintaining 1 of these cars is "substantial"...why have 3 or 4 ??? It certainly has to be expensive to license and insure, more than 1 shark...and the funds exhausted to maintain and operate 3 or so...could be put to awesome use in making the "one"...really an example of your love and appreciation for these fine automobiles.
Is it the fact they don't make em anymore...and you guys feel for these cars so much...that its an effort to "preserve the species" ??Because as we all know...the market for these cars is "niche"...and we will NEVER recoup the investment / upkeep ...so it MUST be the pure love of driving THIS car...Uh...sorry I blew up.

Well, you get one, right? You drive that, and maybe you want to change something.. Maybe you don't have time to do it all at once so it goes up on jackstands for a few weeks. You miss driving it. So you get one for when the other is down. You enjoy that one a whole bunch. You possibly finish the first one. But now the second one really needs a supercharger or some big brakes, or a paint job. A third for when you need to take one apart for whatever reason, while still having a spare.

Jeff for many having a 928 is having a hobby one 928 is a bit like having an aquarium but with only one fish. Besides if you are like Brenden you need three so at least one is drivable

You need one "Perfect" example (yes, I have one ) to keep nice. Then you need one that can be left in it's "Not so perfect" condition. You know, drivable, but in need of cosmetics. But the cosmetics needed will exceed the value of the car, so you just enjoy it as is. (yes, I have one of those too). Then, of course, you need one for racing (yes, I got one just for that...)
Make sense? Now go out and buy a couple more!

Jeff - if we were looking at this from a cost perspective, no one would be into these cars at all. Even a single 928 will never have its investment recouped. The costs go up with multiple cars, but then anything you own costs you money, right? Its like saying why buy a house when you can rent, because owning a house will cost you a lot more. Yes, but you also have the house too!
For me personally, I knew very little about 928's when I got into them (still have too much to learn), so I got the lowest mileage S4 I could find. Well, it was an automatic. And the auto is fun, but after a couple of years I felt a 5 speed would be more fun. But then I couldn't bear to let go of my first love . So I bought another and kept my first. Now I want a GT after hearing all the good stuff about Andrews. That can wait for at least a little while though. Then I want a GTS eventually. As long as I have the funds I will keep all of them. Who cars if I can't drive them all at the same time - they are all mine and thats what matters!
Also, I couldn't afford to have more than 1 if it wasn't for this forum - John D. could charge much more for membership and it would still be so worth it. The community here is so supportive that I feel I can tackle just about any project on my 928s and I would be able to get out of any jam with the help of all the incredible knowlege here. Actually, the people here are part of the reason I bought a second one - too many people were bragging about their 5 speeds and I didn't want to be left out!
I think Tom Falkenberg has 5, so he is a bad influence I don't think I will ever have 928's quite as quality as his are, but one can always hope there is an uniformed seller out there!
