San Pedro is that place made famous by Kaizer Sose in
The Usual Suspects. Oddly or not so oddly it is also the Croation Mecca in this area.

Anyhow the car is fine... but my 12-15 hour days have not changed yet.
I envision some promising reports by Thanksgiving as I am taking some much need R&R and their is actualy verly little work left to do... just tuning. The car has litteraly not been touched since the Sunday of the Sharktoberfest.

If you've seen Gone In 60seconds then you'll know just where San Pedro is......The movie is basically set in San Pedro. CHRIS, LOCK THE GARAGE!

What a coincidence. Ask again tomorrow. What year GTS do you have?

Welcome to rennlist! Now people are going to think I created TexasGuy74 as an advertising stunt.

I have put about 200 miles on it over the weekend and here is my initial impressions over my old 89 S-4 which had 2.54 rear end with LSD

1. The HP/ TQ difference is noticable both off the line and at speed.
Not so much off the line as the A/T and increased weight and 2nd gear starts are something that must be gotten used to. At speed this car flat out throws the hammer down. This car is clearly faster than the S-4 at speed. Best is the top gear acceleration, in the S-4 I would usually drop to third for an quick pass in the GTS this can usually been done in fourth.

2. Steering is even more precise than I remember in the S-4 which is saying alot. Thie car seems happy with almost any line through a curve that I give it.

3. The car ride is firm but comfortable. Between this and the steering I have a really good sense of the road.

4. The 89 S-4 with RMB at crusing speed was loud window up and really loud window down. The GTS with RMB I cannot hear window up and is a plesant loud window down.

5. I think my favorite thing so far which I hated in the S-4 is gear selection and timing. On the S-4 unless I manualy shifted it always seemed to up shift on me when I didn't want it to. The GTS so far always seems to be in the right gear.

My initial
Chris,

Congrats! You waited a long time. Enjoy

Ah... a resurected thread.

Status of "The Other White Car".
Some may know, my 93 GTS had an engine fire with about 2000 miles on it. Marc and I were testing it on the 101 after he installed a nice large engine oil cooler in the nose. The previous mechanic failed to install injector clips, so one injector pushed itself out of the fuel rail. We got the fire out quickly. I carry Halon now... Marc & Susan rebuild the damage and during testing, number 8 cylinder wall cracked. It turns out that this cylinder was repaired by Benson's Performance Machine after his tool damaged the cylinder. He repaired the cylinder with a block provided by Anderson. This repair and o-ringing the block instead of the head contributed to the cracked cylinder. Marc & Susan have rebuilt the engine with a new factory block. With California smog completed, the Vortech is being installed next week. Marc will then dyno it. We have dropped psi from 11 to around 6-7. The 11 psi pully never made 11psi. I never got it over 5 and the belt would slip. With a larger pulley and longer belt, slippage should not occur. Something strange was discovered upon engine disassembly. All 8 rods were identically slightly bent. Perhaps an approach to reduce compression. Hmmm... I'll post dyno results once done. Fresh engine - stock rods, stock pistons, massive cylinder head work, 30 lb injectors, stock EFM, DEVEK exhaust, T-trim Vortech.

Chris, We should go for a run when you are ready. The SoCal Otega run is next weekend if you can make it. Otherwise drop me an email if you want to play.

Camaros and Mustang GT's are fun to play with. I'm thinking of moving to Seal Beach. If that happens I will be running PCH more often. I went home shopping today. Just outside of Huntington a GT3 charged me. I'm thinking "no way, he will smoke me". At 80 MPH I cleanly pulled away. He was pissed "you guys should get that scrap metal off the road". My reply "too bad a scrap metal 89 Porsche just kicked your high $ a$$".

I bet he'll take his car back and tell them something is wrong with it

I think smoking new cars and seeing the looks on the face is what puts the biggest smile on my face. I probably "race" a little too much.... but hey, i'm young. Its in my blood.
