Time has come for Mark Kibort to show the East Cost 928 racer and Ron G (AARP retired pilot/928 racer), how to post a faster time at Road America. So do you think Mark Kibort can do it or he is going to eat his word!
Predictions Mark K.?????

The best thing about this scenario is that Mark Kibort will be running in his own Holbert car which fits him like a glove.
Last year Jean-Louis in his mini-Mouse 4.7L (..260 rwhp) did a personal best at 2:34.
Again last year, John Veninger(?) with a hybrid Mouse motor (..approx 300 rhwp) did 2:33 during the Enduro.
So Mark K should be able to eclipse both given his Mouse motor (..330-ish rwhp) and bigger-brakes advantage, chipped cam-teeth and all. 30 to 70 rwhp is a nice advantage to have on a horsepower-heavy track. No matter what though, it's going to be an exciting weekend for all 928's, racers and street cars alike!
Joe, what are your predictions for yourself and Mark Anderson?
By the way, next weekend promises to be good as last year weather-wise as weather.com is reporting partly cloudy and mid 70's the entire weekend.

Hey, its only 320hp -- 315ft/lbs torque now. (base on the last two dyno runs this season and last) .
Ron's actually running pretty well at Willow, so his new found hp should help especially at this track.
Ron is actually running almost fast (1:32) as some of the laps that Kim Crumb drove at Willow springs in a car with 100more hp on slicks! (kim's average 11 lap race time was 1:31, fastest 1:29, slowest 1:32)
Im not too worried about "learning" the new track, as many of my club race buddies took to Road America with their BMWs and ran about where i project I will run on DOTs. (i.e. 2:29 to 2:31s)
These are cars with about 280 rear wheel hp and about 2600lbs empty.
However, its big time bench racing to predict, (heck, but usually, im pretty good at it, unless we are talking about you and your buddy Mark's sand bagging!) so we will have to see this weekend!! I just hope i have the guts to hang it out there on the "Kink". Ron will also be tough as we both have basically te same car now. It all depends if there is carry-over with all his flight hours flying those 747s!
Joe, we need your 5 liter time off the official time sheet if we are going for the mouse motor records!

Mark, I said don't lift in the kink. I didn't say anything about lifting before the kink. :-)

Joseph, it's good to see you and the boys heading to Road America representing the 928's from the California. I hope Ronnie is recuperated enough to enjoy the weekend. Who is teaming up for the enduro on Monday?
The entry list shows quite of a few entrants from the west coast, so it should be a blast. See you there with a truckload.

Ok Joe,
we got the mouse motor Road America race record . Joe Fan ran a 1:30.8 in 1999 (but on race rubber). (we are told that in 1999, Joe fan only had a 5 liter in the car) thats 3-4 seconds faster than the mouse motor guys from last season.(but, again on slicks, as his class was noted to be GT2R)
so, the mouse motor record for DOT tires on this Event: Is 2:33.xx . from JV in the enduro.
(david lloyd was 2:35.2 in qual, while JLP was 2:35.3, and JV was 2:35.8)
the count down begins.

The new DOT R tires from Hoosier is almost as good as slicks, therefore, comparing these Hoosier tires to 1999 used Good Year slicks I might even bet the Hoosier might be even better!
So Mark are you still up for our Org bet? 2:29 I buy dinner above 2:29 you buy dinner.

or we count 2:30.xx on the first day (saturday) Heck, ive never been there before. I let you sand bag BIG time at Sears Point, so give me a extra second to have a bet so we can at least do the dinner on Saturday night. (sunday, im going home right after the race, and you and I dont like rain checks!)

No, the new Hoosiers are 4 lbs heavier a tire, last longer and are just a tad worse than the S03s that we all know and love so much. They look like slicks now, but are slightly worse than the older Hoosiers but they are supposed to not go away during a race like the Hoosier SO3s can. the new toyos are almost as good, as proved by most all the top guys. Also, the slicks you used back in 99 are slicks and are far better than hoosiers. try a set of DOT tires, or talk to your buddie Mark Anderson about the TOYO RA1s . they are awesome DOT slicks, but still 1-2 seconds behind the slicks, even the ones in 99.
by the way, did you have your body kit and big wheels and tires in 99 before your engine stroker upgrade?

with plus 100hp at willow Spring (2.5 mile track) both Mark A and my self only pickup .75 second. So 2 second for 4 mile track is about right. Are we on for the bet? How about a bottle of Dom

I mistakenly posted the following here first:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/153758-road-america-pca-928-racers.html
Road America Quick Report, Friday 9/3/2004
Best Times so far:
Mark Anderson: 2:20 with car WAY out of alignment.
Jean-Louis: 2.37
Ron: 2:42
Joe Fan: Clutch problems, hopefully fixed on Saturday.
Mark Kibort: Arrived at Elkhart Lake at 9:00pm-ish
Hacker is a no-show!
All 928 racer's except JL penalized and will have to sit out first session on Saturday; BAD BOYS! In a nutshell, Friday was 'test and tune' with DE rules; lots of drivers were reprimanded for not following DE rules which are not race-rules. Many cars were passing without waiting for the slower car to signal to the over-taking car that it can pass.
Saturday will be qualifying times for the race on Sunday.
