Those Rennlist e-mail discussion lists include: 911, 928, 924-944-951-968 and the Racing e-mail lists. For that, on the new Forums – many of you will have access to view, search, and read with the other 80,000+ folks who use the e-mail lists to discuss their Porsches’. These topics are different then the Rennlist Forums discussions - and when posted to the Forums, will become a part of the Rennlist Forum Search engine;
That is excellent!!!!
Thanks John D.

Email lists are really handy because you get a copy of each post in your email box and you can post and reply to the list by email. No need to load a browser and surf around. Alternatively you can set a preference to get the email as a digest once a day. This is unlike the web-based forums which will alert you to posts if your subscribe to a thread, but not send you the actual content.
The disadvantage of email list is they can load your inbox, and you have to sift through a lot of OT posts sometimes, but the ease of viewing, posting and replying to the list via email outweighs the negatives IMHO. The Rennlist 928 email list has a few members that don't post here and vice versa. The email list software John uses does provide a searchable archive on the web too. Integrating it into the web forum is nice, as long as the email part is maintained. I was on the email list long before I started spending any time here and I still prefer it due to the direct view/post/reply via email.

Just to clarify - the email Lists were the origins of Rennlist (hence the name Renn (German for 'Race') -List).
You can read the email list submittals through the web forum interface but cannot post to the Lists there.
To post you must establish a separate List account. Info on accessing the Lists can be found on the main Rennlist page.
I and many others that are still around were on the List from it's inception 6-7 years ago, but after a few years I gave it up due to the high level of drivel bantered back and forth. Perhaps it is better now, although last time I checked it seemed pretty much the same. There IS a lot of good technical discussions on the Lists, but you just have to wade through a lot of non-Porsche stuff to get to it.

Question about new info...
I'm poking around this new interface. If there's a FAQ/HELP section that I haven't yet found please point me at it (heh - or make it easier to find )
Does anyone know....
In the User CP (Control Panel) section there's a page that lists attachments to posts authored by the user. I have two sets of questions about the information displayed:
- total storage of attachments? Is there a limit? Does the limit apply against the member's web site quota?
- number of downloads for each attachment. Is this the number of times the attachment was viewed as a result of the thread's page being downloaded? Or is it the number times readers clicked-right "Save As..."?

Beth,
Sign up for the 928 list and check it out. There are a bunch of old time 928 owners that are a hoot on that list plus a great brain trust in addition to the web forums.

The forum seems to have gotten very tiny on my 1600x1200 monitor. I can not get IE to expand the size via IE's font size adjustment.
