A few of you may remember my post a couple of months ago when I was more than a little frustrated with the problems I was having with my '86 928S.(also where I got pretty much strip-searched and scrutinized about the cars I've owned in the past. ) see post entitled: I am so DONE with my 928S!!!!! Well I sold my '86 for $5,500 (took quite a bath on that car but I DID disclose all of its idiosyncracies to the buyer so what did I expect?). So, call me a glutton for punishment, but I bought a 1988 S4 with 78k miles and a detailed service history. Guess what? I like this car! I think my major problem with the '86 was that it was just not quite nice enough. When I say "nice" I'm talking about how well kept the car has been both mechanically AND cosmetically. You were all correct when you talked about what a fun car the 928 is. This is really a great car when you find a really well-cared for example. In keeping with my past record of getting bored with all cars after a pretty short time, I'm sure I'll sell it within a few months, but for now... I'm glad you all told me not to give up on the 928 and I'm glad I listened.
Thanks,
Thanks,

You sure you pushed the right buttens? Cause I'm still seeing
"Paul
1988 928 S4. Black/tan auto, chrome 17"cups."
normaly when I update mine, it's about instant.

My primary goal when looking for a 928 was finding a well cared-for, unmolested car. It was far less important to me what color it was or if it had a 5-speed, etc. So, I ended up with a white S4 automatic that was like new, bought from the original owner who treated it better than most people treat their kids. I have never regreted this purchase for a moment. I think you did the right thing to drop a troublesome car that probably would have continued to be more trouble to get a better cared-for example. Enjoy.

Paul,
Glad to see you back with a good 928. Jay Wellwood is working on a Sharks in the Ozarks gathering for this fall, so try to keep it long enough to join us there.

Any chance you guys would like to do your "Sharks in the Ozarks" at the same time the KC Wrenching Society is doing our "RennTreffen" event at the Lake of the Ozarks Sept 24-26? There are GREAT roads, lots of hotels, a beautiful lake, etc...

Scott,
That sounds like a great idea. Please contact Jay Wellwood since he is the organizing committee on the SITO. BTW don't let him stall on it as I have witnesses that he agreed to set it up. If you were at Hallett you may have heard him also. LOL
