Default 16v Supercharger kit demo at Wichita 928 OC

Thanks to all who came to S&S Dyno Sunday morning and witnessed our Stage 1 Supercharger kit unveiling.

We produced 261 HP and 273 FTP of Torque at the rear wheels from only 6 psi of boost. Dyno chart and photos below. Add your 15% for the drivetrain loss to the 261 HP at the rear wheels, and you get 300 HP at the crank.
Many credible witnesses!

We chose the absolute low boy on the 928 totem pole to bring to the 928 OC in Wichita... the M28/03 1979 US version (rated at 219 HP at the crank by Porsche) and got 300 HP at the crank with no other mods. Stock everything, catalytic converter in place. A/C in place. Air Pump removed.

The kit you saw run is complete and documented, with installation instructions already in print.

To those of you not at the 928 OCIC, the Stage 1 kit we brought represents our starter kit - lowest cost ($4,295 including NEW supercharger) and simplest installation. This kit can be installed by one mechanic in about 8 hours, including gauges.
Details on this kit can be found here:
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...chestage1.html

Everything on the kit is a bolt-on, there are no permanent mods to be made, so you can remove it later if you wish and return your 928 back to stock at any time.

This kit is also UPGRADEABLE to our Stage 2 kit - which will yield about 40 HP more than our Stage 1 kit for $1,995. Details on the Stage 2 upgrade are here:
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...e2upgrade.html

Our kits are designed for 16v cars only at this time, and we cover both CIS and L-Jet cars. Our stage 1 kit is a totally-safe 6 psi and our Stage 2 kits is a very reasonable 9 psi with an intercooler.

Here is the dyno chart:

http://forums.rennlist.com/upload/stage1dynochart.jpg

Basically, we turned out S4 numbers from a early 219 HP CIS model.

The pulleys we use on this kit are not new or untested. We have been driving on street and road race courses for 4 years now without a single failure. From daily driving to Road America, no 928 Motorsports mounting bracket or pulley has ever failed.

On our kits, we want to remove any concern you might have about quality and dependability - we have over-engineered every item so you will have years of trouble-free enjoyment. We believe so strongly in our mounts, for example, that we are the first supercharger kit maker to offer a 2 YEAR WARRANTY ON ALL MOUNTS AND PULLEYS. Our website needs an update on this topic, I am sorry to say, but we do warrant our pulleys and mounting brackets for two full years against any defects in materials or workmanship. Racing does NOT void the warranty. Go nuts! Have fun!

If you would like a copy of the written warranty emailed to you, email me at: carl@928motorsports.com and I'll send it to you.

...and there are photos for you about some of our Quality checks and manufacturing processes here:

Here is a shot of how the installed Stage 1 kit looks:

...and another:

My sons and I want to thank all who made the event such a success for everyone. Marc White and Terri - tireless organizers and up-beat optimists!
We will definitely come again. Our thanks also to Mo's shop for hosting the tech session. and keeping his shop open on Sunday for Louis Ott and anyone else that that needed a repair before turning home.

I'm going to bed now - will log on again tomorrow and answer any questions you guys might have.

Carl, this really is very interesting. I'd love to see the before dyno run if you have it.I'm very curious how you provide for proper cat operation with the air pump removed, especially at low RPM. Unfortunately the cat is a fact of life for a couple more years for me here in Calif. I'll come back to this and go through your material in more detail when I have more time... maybe I just missed it.

Carl,
Congratulations. Sounds like you have a soild, powerful and easy to install system. The price is good too!

Sounds like someone besides you or me has had a pulley failure though.

Just to be sure everyone knows, I haven't.

I spent some time talking with Carl and his sons, and my first question was: "This is such a neat installation, how strong is that breacket?" .. upon which Carl proceeded to reef on that honking supercharger as if he was trying to move the car by it, and it didn't flex one millimeter. I was very impressed, and I told Carl that this was very well-designed. I like the idea that it is a bolt-on and noninvasive. Carl, I like your pricing a lot. It's just where I could afford it.

Thanks Don!

I'll be ok. I just have to budget double Carl's price of admission.

I have been studying your website a while now and I must agree - You have an incredible product here, I cannot wait to get our first kit imported to South Africa to personally vouch for the supercharger, but it seems to me you have done your homework and the finished product looks professional and the dyno report proves the power.

Well done to you and your sons - I take my hat off to you and I know the pains involved in taking on such a venture - I and all 928 owners thank you for your time investment in making our cars so much faster.

Thank you for the kind words.

We received many accolades from even the polisher-types about the
cleanliness of the design and the quality workmanship. We were pleased to pass scrutiny of even the most discerning eyes of Porsche owners.
It's no cobble job!

Price wise - we want to get these out and in your hands, and it is priced accordingly. Think of it this way.... of a $4,200 Stage 1 kit that includes a new, out-of-the-box factory Powerdyne Supercharger with 2 year warranty.... Powerdyne will get almost $2,000 of that $4200 from us. Our supplier of silicone elbows and couplers will get $120, Norskog will get $ 200+ for gauges and senders, etc, etc. You guys are smart, you can price these parts yourself. The point is, you can see where it goes and how much is left for us when its all said and done.

I may not be able to hold these prices down where they are in the future,
but we feel that if we are going to stand a chance to recoup our Thousands of $$ in development costs, we know we have to develop a following and an initial installation base of 928M supercharged cars.

Did you know that we now have monthly payment terms thru PayPal?
You can buy your 928M Stage 1 or 2 supercharger kit and pay for it monthly. PayPal says the payment for the Stage 1 kit is $179 a month.

Hope that helps!

Unfortunately I was unable to attend OCIC, but I have seen Carl's install and brackets - personally I find it's a very nice set-up. From all appearances nicely over-built. I would have no qualms at all installing that system on my car.

On a personal note, I was able to meet Carl a coupla weeks ago when I purchased a pair of cams from him to replace my failed welded units. He was the consummate host - I got a steak dinner and 3 hours of 928 'shop talk' with my cams - no extra charge!

Good job Carl. I figured that car would put down somewhere near those numbers. You should offer the L-Jet kit with the MAF fuel management at a good price and you will really have a hot high volume seller. I opted to go out all the way with the twin turbo and push the limits of the 4.5/4.7 liter cars. I don't expect to sell mass amounts of kits...4 or 5 kits would be fine for me for now.

Do you use the original viscous cooling fan or change to an electric type?
