ground wire should go to the bolt on the rear of the cam cover on the 5-8 bank,
and the lifting lug on the 1-4 bank ,
and then to the bolts that hold the coil clamps

I understand but the bolt on the lifting lug broke and I can’t get the piece out of the hole. Does it have to be grounded to a bolt that’s connected to the engine to properly ground or will any metal bolt work? I currently have it bolted to one of the fender bolts.

The chassis is the earth and as long as you have appropriate connectivity to it how it is effected is somewhat academic. Many smaller connections are grounded to the block but the block is gounded via its adequately sized strap. Same for the battery negative post.

Thanks Fred. The last thing I’ll test is changing the chip back to the original chip.

so you put different chips in the computer then hit a pothole,
and then it started running bad.

I would say that its quite possible then the chip could have come loose,
or that this should be returned to a stock configuration to rule out the chip.

i was running the chip for months w/o issue. If all cylinders are getting spark and all injectors are firing and all grounds are connected, I don’t see what else could cause the problem. Will change the chip tomorrow and report back.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge you can put on the PS rail? The pothole got the PS rear, right?

So, maybe a connection to the fuel pump or weak ground back there?

Yes, It hit on the PS. I don’t have a pressure gauge but will look into getting one
. I’ll also check the fuel pump connection.

As well as fuel, air, spark, compression; they all have to happen at the proper time.
How's your timing belt tension? Could it have jumped?
Others on here more knowledgeable than I would know if that's even a possibility.

If you by running poorly you mean it has a miss or is not hitting on all cylinder I would focus on determining which one(s).

Ok guys. I’m at a loss. Changed the chip back to the original and checked the fuel pump wires. No visible issues with wires. No change in the way it’s running. Any othe suggestions?

it’s actually running worse than if it was just running one cylinder down. When I give it gas, it revs in a ragged fashion and then almost (and sometimes does) choke out (cut off). It idles poorly and idles worse when warming up.

I still would like to get a reading on the fuel pressure to rule that out.

is the gauge something I can just add to the end of the rail or do I have to try and find a 928 rail with the gauge already on it?

It screws on where the passenger side cap is.

PM your address and I'll send you one of mine.
