WMD on a 928
Looking down the barrel of what could turn into a weapon of mass destruction either by...
1) blowing away a good percentage of cars on the road today
or
2)... by my own doing, blowing up my motor!
Either way, it should be interesting, i have a lot to do and a VERY steep learning curve to get over!
In these pics, it is sitting on my spare motor that im slowly "trying" to rebuild. The plan is to put this on my curent motor in my car, the one i just did the leakdown test on and is at 149k miles!!
For some reference(below)...
This is a dyno chart of a 91 Saleen mustang 4.6L with a Kenne Bell "twin screw" blower at 9psi. Im not sure of all the other mods but in the back of my mind, that is what im looking to acheive. I dunno if that TQ line even qualifies as a curve??
Yeah, hopefully 500Hp eventaully, but that is a very very ambitious goal! Kudos to Murph and Lags . What ive done and read so far really makes me appreciate the road that they, and Andy Keel, aka" Goridesno" (who has really pioneered the "twin screw" kit on the 928, that you see here) have paved as far as supercharging the 928.

As far as the big picture, this is what Im going for. Put the pics above together with the intake i am now running below.
And would you believe that the picture of the Chevy Silverado below was the initial spark for my intake idea!!

Interesting view of my own creation I have never seen before.
Let's focus on #1 and not worry about #2
Don't forget Kenne Bell makes 701 RWHP with the Autorotor 2.2 on the Cobra using stock IC. There is no reason you can't get close to that with the new motor you are building.

Interesting view of my own creation I have never seen before
Well, Its makes a WORLD of difference when youve got a spare motor sitting out of the car that you can play with and trial fit ideas. You can step back, walk around it, look in the back..front etc. You dont have to lean over or around anything. When i was building my hard board mockups i just cut ..looked..cut ...looked..until the hardboard "part" i made fit. Then i tweeked it to where i wanted it.
Satin black manifold, intake and valve covers i think. Metal parts replated that factory goldish color.
"STOCK AND AWE" is the look and theme i want

When you take the manifold to the powder coater there are 2 things that you will need to have them do.
The manifold may gas out. I had one done as an experiment. The powder coater used a primer then "shot it hot". Talk to your powder coater about this.
The holes where the injectors go will need to be masked. The tollerance there is very close. They are pratically pressed into those holes through the gaskets. If the holes are even slightly narrowed by the powdercoating you will have an extremely hard time getting them in.
Since the parts are aluminum you may just want to get them annodized. That would actually be better.

So, you're not concerned about the black sucking up more of the underhood heat than a more reflective color would?
Hey the X-15 and SR-71 are Black, they aren't slouches!
Hmmm...Maybe I will get it ceramic coated?

I really need to come out to LA for a visit and a spin, to get the "big picture".

I have designed the systems to allow the use of either the Autorotor 2.2, which is what the Kenne Bell systems use. Or the Whipple 2300AX (AKA Lysholm 2.3AX) KB does not make the SC they make the systems and use the Autorotor. And actually Whipple does not make 2300AX either, it is Lysholm. Both blowers are made in Sweden.

To be "technically" correct, kenne bell and WHipple are two different companies.
They are just using the "patented" design developed by Mr Lysholm.
I think that correct.??
