Default Do I have a 300 HP engine??

Hello,

I recently purchased a 1981 928S ROW with an unmatching M28/16 4.5L USA engine block. It has the original CIS fuel system and I now believe the car kept also its euro intake, heads and cams.

But none of my parts are listed in the PET to help me confirm it...

My parts numbers are:

Intake body: 928 110 159 0R

Intake runners: 928 110 295 0R
928 110 296 0R
928 110 297 0R
928 110 298 0R

Cylinder heads: 928 104 346 1R

Camshaft housing: 928 105 251 1R

So do I have a 300 HP engine??

Thanks!

Orphe

I found the intake runners in the PET and they are for a M28/11/12 so I would assume the rest have to be off the original engine. Now adding this stuff to and 80/81 4.5l engine I do not know the HP but it’s gotta be more than the USA version.

I have an 82 M28/11 engine in my garage. No intake assembly but my part numbers are different on the head and cam cover. I’m sure someone with a lot more knowledge will chime in on this one

I would have thought compression would be different between the engines, so who knows how much power yours puts out, but you can get the ROW PET by going to the UK Porsche Classic page and downloading theirs. As you’ve found, the US one doesn’t always have the European spec parts.

Just as well, really. I have a 4.5l lower end motor, with Euro S heads, cams, and intake. Not really a good combo as the top end will not really sing without the high compression lower ends and I think you lose some of the smoothness of the 4.5l top end. I had planned on adding some boost to get to the 10:1 compression but never have and will probably end up disassembling the motor and selling off the bits.

If your interested I’ll sell you that M28/11 engine. It’s got everything minus the intake which you already have.
