I just found a foldable triangular relective sign tucked into the back of a 78, behind the tool panel. I had a small metal one in my 81 Euro, but this one is a larger plastic version, in a red plastic case. I did not find any in my 89.
What model years were these included, and how many styles were there?
Oaky Gents - Here is the scoop - The one I have is the one with the "I" symbol in the middle. It has the fold away metal bottom stand and the fold down reflectors. I looked it over againb and the only thing wrong with it is that the rubber peice that holds the center plastic peice to the corner is broken. (The "clip" part)
Once I get some new Batteries for the camera (tonight) I'll post some pictures of it.
These "warning triangles" are required to be in every car in Germany - without it you would not pass vehicle inspection.
They are used in case of an accdient or breakdown, to warn other motorists of a possible hazard. They must be placed a certain distance ahead of the accident or stranded vehicle, so that other drivers have a chance to slow down or change lanes, or whatever.
My previous 928 ('91 GT) was a factory delivery and had the warning triangle in it. Mine came folded in an orange plastic box. In the Mercedes and some other cars, the triangle had been placed under the trunk lid.
Another thing required in every car in Germany is a first aid kit. Drivers have to get a first aid training in order to obtain a drivers license. When I left, they were discussing to require refersher courses, but I don't think that ever happened.
