Important FREE Battery Sensor Upgrade Now Available at Your Porsche Center WSS6 Cam
I received it also. I wish it explained, what the software error on the battery data is. Pretty vague.
From the letter: What is the issue? Due to a software error on your 12V battery sensor, it is possible that the battery data is calculated incorrectly. * This can result in the vehicle not starting after being parked for a longer period.
Got tired of replacing LiFePO4 batteries? I've said for years the BMS is cr*p... alas they won't do it OTA so it's 700+ miles round trip with no idea how long it will take.

you could just sign up for PPN and do it yourself.

This makes it sound easier than it actually is. I've submitted for PPN more than once over the last year and never heard a peep from Porsche to get set up.

Get in contact with their support. I did it all through email. From my experience and others it seems like that is what it takes to get the ball rolling.
And as the video below shows, this is where we are headed. Battery registration, navigation subscription, heated seats etc was the start. A simple SRI needs an analyzer when a few years ago you could reset it with no tools.
The right to repair is dead and at $350/hr, I mentioned many times, get a pre 2024 car where you might still have a hope of working on your ride. I have no interest in PPN to do basic maintenance nor paying $800 bucks for an oil change. The battery registration was a scam and the industry should have migrated to a 24v system years ago (well we should also have migrated to IPv6 decades ago as well...), the BMS is shoddy and this should have been done via an elective OTA service.

I also got the email. My battery works fine, and I drive the car at least once a week. I read elsewhere that the problem is experienced by a car that is not driven regularly (~once a month or longer). I'll have them reprogram it on the next service.
I had this update done in my 2022 Carrera with the lithium battery in February.
It solved a problem where the battery UVP would disable the battery - when the battery measured at 13.5v not under load. Under load, about 13.2v. So voltage wise, the battery seemed fine to me.
Once the UVP was enabled, the car would not start, and I could not open the doors without the manual key. Before this winter, the car was OK for 3 years on a tender when not in use. Coincidentally, a few days before this happened, I turned on the ignition (KOEO) and saw a battery low message and something about connecting a charger. But the charger connected and showing "full".
The Porsche charge-o-mat would try to "charge" the battery, but the UVP would disable the battery within a minute of connecting directly to the terminals per the manual. I could wake up the battery with the charge-o-mat "jump" process, but it would flip back almost immediately. I tried a Noco 5 and the UVP would trigger on, but immediately turn off. This back and forth behavior happened about every 30 seconds.
I was able to start the car while the UVP was off and get it to the dealer. I have not had any issues since the update.
After the update, the UVP does not trigger on either charger and voltage seems normal.
I would recommend getting the update if you have a lithium battery because it can disable the battery any time with the faulty software.
