I've been chasing this car for many years, and finally it became mine! .. Its a 1987 928 S4, black with light grey interior, but thats not so exciting, the exciting thing is it belonged to one of the world most known dictators (I can't say whom, too risky) I have all the paperwork to prove it but I prefer not to disclose it at least as of now. The car came to me with blown engine so I just bought a good short block which I'm going to swap in in the next few weeks, also it needs the interior re-done as the sun baked all the leather so badly. Here are a couple of shots of it inside my garage, please follow along while I attempt to restore it in the coming months (or years!) :
Curious why so interested in this car - is it just for the ownership history?
Thanks. Yeah the history has a lot to do with it, secondly I got for next to nothing, plus its a complete car that came to me with two engines (but both needs to be rebuilt). It won't cost me much to restore as I'm doing everything myself, as I used to work on my 911s for quite long time.
If you can, get a bucket of water and a rag and give it a bath, then take new photos so we can see better what you are starting with. It will be interesting to watch your journey because it looks like you will need paint and interior, which are pretty expensive in the US. Hopefully you have experience and good connection with local vendors for those things. I find 928 motors not hard to work on, if you can get good enough parts. So here's hoping that at least one of your blocks is good. You never know what you have until you get it all opened up.

I can totally relate! Not sure why the hesitation to reveal the history, I've seen an SS officer's Horch celebrated at Pebble. I know a guy with Mussolini's Fiat parade car, and another guy with Sammy Gravano's Maserati. The history could arguably be the most interesting thing about your car....would you be saving this thing if it was just another ravaged S4?
The archaeology could be fascinating if it hasn't been through too many hands since ___________ owned it. Subscribed.
Its for the siple reason that I live in a middle eastern country and government, so it would so easy for any of that dictator family member to track me down for any reason, so I just want to keep that door shut at least for now, although I have ALL the paper work to prove the car's history.

Didn't Uday's car have some bullet holes in it from an attempted assassination from a family member of a woman killed by him?
The 928 engine is a bit different from a 911 engine, but this place is a great place and resource for what you are planning to do.
Good luck with the process.
I see the 928 engine is FAR easier to work on than any H6 911 engine, its very similar to any american V8s, and I've been building 1000hp+ chevy big blocks for for than 25 years, so it should be doable for me.
