Default Do I have the correct dipstick?

The dipstick pictured came with my 85S when I got it, but just by chance I noticed most websites seem to indicate it should have had this one:

https://928srus.com/products/928-107...t&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Do they measure the same? If I get the later one, will the tube need changed? And, do they all end up curved , or is that just courtesy of the PO?
Thanks.
Thon

If you do an oil change with a new filter you should need about 9 litres to get the oil level to the top mark. Does that match with your experience?

Your dipstick does not look like any such animal I have seen for what little that may be worth as they are typically yellow in colour and that is consistent with what Roger shows on his website

It does have some green paint on the crook, and it's 300mm long, which matches what I think were some of the 84 and earlier sticks. What I don't know is if it is basically equivalent to the yellow handled one in the link.
Thanks.

It looks correct . My 85 S US spec car has the same one. It is the green one. Sounds like yours was green but the paint mostly wore off.

Looks like an early 85 dipstick.

I can't recall ever seeing a yellow dipstick on a factory car.

You have now . . . .. My 1995 GTS has one, and I found examples on RL from pristine examples with low miles.

Also, the early cars had the yellow loop dipstick. Here is a picture of Blumaxx, a 78 US spec car:

......Of course.
Should have said early cars with painted metal dipsticks, to be clear.
All '87 to '95 have yellow plastic dipsticks.

This is interesting. Looks like Porsche tried to get the later cars that have the oil ingestion issue to run the oil at a lower level to try and help prevent that.
