Ammo did a video on or heavily involving Media Blasting...it was filled with foolishness and assumptions and just incorrectly done processes. I commented -- nicely -- and got zero responses.

....but I don't know if it will ever run again. This is the problem of having a car detailed by a detail guy and not a guy who knows anything about cars. There was so much water and moisture put into every nook and cranny of this thing that they might as well have submerged it in a swimming pool. I wonder if they ever got it to run, and if so, if anything worked, like the guages on the pod and so forth.

Linderpat, IYO, what would have been the better approach to bring this car back from the "moldy dead"? From my understanding, he was only doing all of this "water+pressure washing+steaming+scrubbing" to get the car clean enough to send to the mechanics. Should he have used his Ammo method only on the exterior and left the mechanicals--e.g., engine bay, underside--to dry ice blasting (which would have been my choice)? Should he have taken the seats out--like he did for the rear passenger's seat and the carpets--to do the steam cleaning?
It's fine what he did with the body, and the wheels and brakes. And yes, pull the seats and do them correctly, out in the sun. Do you think he got all of that hidden mold under the seats by what he did? I don't think so. To clean the engine, hand wash what you can, and if the car has been sitting so long, it needs a top end refresh anyway, which allows a proper cleaning - bit by bit. I've done several, and it is the best way.
He delivered a wet nightmare to the mechanics. They may not be able to determine what was wrong with it, based on what he did. This is why you never buy a flood car. Yes they eventually dry out, but then you spend the rest of your time with it chasing electrical gremlins that never go away. This guy thought he was prepping a Jeep I suppose. And I agree with what someone else already said - I really cringed when I watched him mindlessly wash the option sticker in the rear area under the carpet. The guy is an utter fool.

I think he's brilliant. Foolish are those of us that watched his 20 minute info mercial designed to promote a product line.

Curious, how would you propose sending the car to the mechanic? How else would you suggest dealing with all the urine and feces under the hood? I had a similar issue last year when I purchased a Gemballa avalanche that had been sitting in a barn in southern jersey for 20 years with a mice colony living on top of the engine. It was disgusting, my mechanic pressure washed the engine while it was in the car enough where he could drop the engine then dropped the engine and pressure washed it again.
what’s the alternative?

Watching again, if you pay attention, the only power washing was directed at the wiper transmission cover and top of the manifold. The rest of the engine was foamed, and from my understanding this introduces very little moisture as it is not under pressure. He then uses a soft bristle brush to remove the grease from that point. Again I can't speak to steam but if you watch closely he is careful not to point it directly into the speaker cones, but rather around their bezels. It'd be nice to hear from one of the pro detailers on RL about the use of steam on and around the dash and other electronics. Larry has been retained to do details on million dollar Pebble Beach concourse cars, so I doubt he'd be getting those jobs if he had a reputation for foolishly killing electronics.

If the next step is to bring it to me to pull the engine and restore it and all the other functional bits to as- or better-than-new condition, then by all means go ahead. Had you done that 10 years ago, I would have told you to expect to replace the two engine harnesses. At this point, it almost doesn’t matter because - mostly - only garage queen 928s don’t need at least the front engine harness replaced. Certainly a sitting-outside rodent infested 928 will need not only the two engine harnesses but also the engine bay harness at this point.
However, if that is not the next step, then …
… the nasty alternative is to vacuum, scoop, and/or scrap. If you doubt this search for pictures in the Random 928 Picture Thread under my handle.
And, what is shown in that video is only the tip of the rodent iceberg. I !@#$ing guarantee that there is several cubic feet of rodent debris elsewhere both interior and exterior. The HVAC airbox, recirc box, and plenum area between the dash and firewall is full, wheel wells behind the splash shields, firewall plenum under the pressure-washed plastic drip tray…

After watching the video I realized that this car was located about 150 yards down the road from me. I had been curious about it since the first time I drove on the road. So when Stan came to my house to work on "Corky" I suggested we stop by and get a closer look. The guy showed us the car..."ran when parked"??? Finally we asked if he had a price in mind. He said $15k. We were thinking more like $2,000 so we made a quick exit, laughing all the way home. Then almost a year later it was gone!! I wonder what the sale price was. Zach

Ammo NYC posted the video of the countach detail…
the car is being delivered to Miami on Monday. It’ll be an interesting week as my RUF btr and my 911 GT2 evo are arriving from England as well.
