The video is probably accurate.
But I think what we are seeing, is a really hardcore 928 driver, racing someone without a ton of riding or racing experience on his bike.
It's like the comment about the grandma in the Viper.
No one is a grandma here, but the point is valid.
You did not beat that bike.
You beat the rider.
You are more insane, and more hardcore, than he is.
If you want to compare, just go to your local motorcycle hangout on Sunday.
(Sunday is bike-riding day, for those of you who do not know that...)
Go there, and talk to the people, and see if someone is willing to race you.
See who the "crazy guy" is. Who is the good street racer of the bunch?
Not the guy who just bought the bike, and is learning to ride...
But the guy with as much riding experience, as you have driving experience...
Challenge them to a few different races. Pick a safe spot.
Do standing starts, and rolling starts. Do different races.
Get a good comparison, so you can come back and talk facts.
Maybe videotape the whole thing.

Ill chime in again. two equal drivers on a road course will probably turn very close to the same times. the bike will have an advantage, and a big advantage if both are on street tires and the car is not race prepared. (mostly stock) now, that all changes with two better drivers, a 928 that is more race prepared (at least closer to how a bike comes stock) and the car is on DOT rubber.
Im not in favor of pushing it on the street. Ive had my weak moments, but i feel sorry for the guy that has to risk his life to keep up on a bike, where we are all safe and cozy in a fully caged race car on DOT slicks! I would feel pretty bad if i was pushing some bikes and the guy chasing crashed.

Thunderhill has as many motorcyle days as they do auto racing days. the bikes and car times in all classes with all drivers are pretty close.

Generally, on a board like this, people are talking about street races, with stock 928s, vs. stock bikes, C5s, imports, etc...
Racing is easy to get the numbers. You can get track times, etc.
You can see which vehicles are faster, and which drivers are faster.
At the races, you will see a group of stock Corvettes, with different drivers, and vastly different times.
Because some drivers are better than others.
But the numbers tell the tale.
Whether drag racing, or road racing, or even top speed, or dyno.

But most people on a board like this, telling a story like his, are talking about how they beat this person, or that person, with their close to stock 928.
And when the story is based in reality, and includes some disclaimers, and some humility, we all enjoy "kill stories". But sometimes they are just too wild to be taken seriously... And I just don't like us to sound like the ricers, and the kids, who all brag about beating everything, when the circumstances of the races, and cars, and drivers, are not based in reality. I'm sure a few ricers claim to have beaten some Viper, that happend to be driven by grandma. And I'm sure that every one of you who has had someone race you, when you were not even aware they were trying to race you, has that ricer on some message board, talking about how he totally smoked that 928. When that is not the reality. When I see those kind of posts, I know they are BS. So that is why I wanted to discourage us from posting too many stories that are unrealistic. Because it makes us look immature, and cocky.

also compare this data point. Kevin buckler (ALMS winner) and Danny Sullivan couldnt touch that time with a 959 on street rubber!! (and many of the turbos (some even 500hp)they tested barely got into the 1:56s, if only for a lap or two.)

Besides, there is a certain lack of satisfaction in not knowing what you have beat... I've raced a couple of fast ricers (cars) lately, but unless everybody stops for ice cream afterwards, what's the comparison?

Same with all the cars or bikes you see on the street.

It's really hard to compare, unless you compare vehicles in detail.
That is one nice thing about racing on a track, or autocross, etc...
You can walk around the pits, and compare cars.
You can see what mods others have done, and see how it is helping their times.

Especially when those really good drivers in Miatas are kicking your butt...
But it was nice to see that my 928 was in the same time range as the Vettes.
For a lot less $$$, with a lot older car...
Then again, some of those guys may never have raced before.
Some were faster, some were slower.
I'm sure it would be the same on the street.
