Default 928 -vs- Deer

Well, that's unfair, the truck in front of me had JUST killed the deer, it was my duty to fillet it I guess...

Bumper: Cracked
Spoiler: Torn down the middle, like a cleft palate..its split in two like the red sea.
Front under tray exploded..its gone mostly..toast, rear under tray entirely missing.

I have hit three over the years, you think they would be shy and stay off the roads. About $1200 a pop, never used insurance, they will up your rates forever.

How about no insurance? Why waste your money?

Ugh, I hope no damage beyond what you have discovered. They are an absolute hazard in my area. We have controlled hunts to curtail the population but they are everywhere. I hit one a couple years ago in the otherwise pristine Pilot I was giving to the kids in like another month... body shop managed to fix it just under the "total" threshold. I may have asked him to use any third-party and used parts he could to save $$$. I have had countless near misses...
In the video, it looks like you took it in stride... you went from 78MPH to 80MPH, so not too shaken up apparently
Cheers

Oh No. When I was driving the new 84 home from KY on Friday I had a pucker moment with 3 deer on the side of the road. After seeing the first one and slamming on the brakes to get from 70 to 20 very quickly, one of them turned and started running parallel to me. I just knew he was going to get spooked by the loud exhaust and make a left "crazy Ivan" right into the side of me since we were now going the same speed, but luckily, he didn't.

Good luck with the repair and hope there isn't additional damage.

I always wonder about the Darwin Effect and deer. The dumbest ones have been removed from the gene pool after running into vehicles, or standing there transfixed, for like 100 years. Shouldn't the "run away from those big shiny things" be embedded in their brains by now???
Cheers

I hit a 250# 10 pointer at 55mph in the car in my avatar.. Never even had time to do more than tap the break pedal. I've never seen a car sustain as little damage after hitting a buck that size in my whole career.

Hoods find, it was already 'laid down' and low from the truck in front of me.

Ouch!

Thats a lot of damage... glad you did not take out anything in the coolant or oiling systems and have a progression of damage...

Let the insurance company fix it and move on.
