Default A thread about what parts are the same across all 928’s

Hiya,

I figured I’d start a thread about what parts are the same across all 928’s. So that’s all years and models. I’ve seen a bunch of cars listed to part out and I’d love to be able to buy parts from an older or newer year with confidence. Please list the parts you know will fit / work on all models.

some questions to get us started;

- Interior light housings?
- hoses?
- switches and sensors?
- AC components?
- ashtray?
- window motors?
- locks?
- nuts, bolts, and screws

Yes, any ashtray will fit any year, although the texture of the ashtray door varies between early and late (not sure where the boundary is).

Wow!! That's a helluva list...! I've got a saying that goes like this... "All 928s are the same... except THAT year..." Insert any year and you'll be pretty accurate.

hello again,

what about the trunk latch? As in the piece that’s bolted into the hatch that lifts up?

Valve stem caps too!

I'd think the rear hatch lock is the same 78-95, at least the non-alarm version. Nevermind that they all need to be keyed to the car. But given that a new one from Porsche is $500+, re-tumblering a lock seems worth the hassle.

I'll go out on a limb and guess that there is only one wiring harness that is the same for '78-95- 928 612 011 00.
