Fortunately, I would not say that clutch replacement is too much of a specialist exclusive duty. A competent DIY'er with basic tools, time, and ability to follow steps in accordance with the WSM will suffice.

The are more than enough of us here to offer guidances as well. Also, there are countless prior posts with specific details outlining the whole assignment down to needed tools, tips/tricks, product recommendations, etc.

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement. The clutches, pressure plate, throwout, master, slave and hydraulic lines have all been replaced, taken out, examined and put back in by experienced Porsche mechanics (however, those mechanics are top notch with 911's, they are not "experienced" with 928's). I would be foolish to think I'm going to be able to do this when guys who turn wrenches for a living have not been able to solve it. What I really need is someone who's solved this problem more than once to fix my car as well. Any recommendations?

Fugi, consider starting a new thread that describes what is amiss with your clutch. Also, what are the details of your car? MY78-84 or MY85-86?

There are plenty of folks here who, at the least, can direct you towards proper diagnostic guidances, if not remotely pinpoint your issue(s).
