Default Dont Hate me for asking~ anxious 1979

Its intimidating- one's first post on a forum...especially a forum populated with knowledgeable members such as this one. Alas I am not yet knowledgeable- hence my desperate quesiton.
Can someone kindly decode my VIN? 9289200072
Why? Well, the usual case: slowly restoring and road-worthying but stumped because the trunk sticker detailing the exterior color/interior color etc is missing. To make matters more complicated, I have contradictory information that front and rear spoilers either WERE avail as special order for 1979 Canadian(?) 928 or WERE NOT avail. That matters- because my car has spoilers. Similarly, my shark is Guards Red but paint chips and a painted trunk floor hint at a possible paint change in her past. So- it must all start with the VIN decoding. I need to know what this car was when new- what she had in terms of options and of course the other things-
To borrow a phrase from a certain rebel princess///// "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi you're my only hope"
Can someone be Obi-Wan DIN decoder

The early cars didn’t have the sticker in the trunk area.

Your VIN says it is a very early production’79 model made for the North American market. That is all you can get from that.

You will need to get with Porsche NA for any more detailed info.

Thank you for the swift reply- Is there any advantages or disadvantages to having a very early production model?
Also- can you recommend the best way of contacting the right person at Porsche N A short of googling for a general office phone number?
cheers Danke!

No spoilers.

Whatever color is behind the rear interior quarter panels/trunk/ is virtually guaranteed to be the original color.
Sometimes people went to the trouble of changing the color in the engine compartment, but you can usually find traces of the original color, there, also.

You can contact Porsche to get an official Porsche Production Specification (PPS) certificate, or get a full-on Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, link to their services:

https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...alcertificate/

A PPS will cost $1XX (not sure exactly) and the technical cert is $500, and you have to take the car to a Porsche Classic-participating dealer to have it inspected in person.

OR- you can take a 2-3 minute walkaround video, outdoors in bright light, with all the doors, hatch and trunk open, and we can tell you most of what Porsche was going to tell you, for free. Consider it a concours judging event where the judges actually know enough about 928s to comment on more than how clean your hood latch is.

Post the video link here, we're happy to help.

Copy that- no spoilers...ever....were an option for the 1979. That means they will need to be removed, hoping this isn't a problem.
In terms of paint question- When I looked into the trunk area (under the carpet, in the battery area etc.), I discovered that someone had painted the areas black so no clues there. The interior of the car is black btw.
In terms of the engine bay- take a look at this pic, should be fairly hi def enough to zoom in- your thoughts?

Engine bay...in need of a good cleaning

Contradictory clues? Some revealed grey primer, some revealed white paint?

Whatever colour is on the strut towers, I'd bet is the original colour. Maybe this colour

That is a gorgeous car! BUT im anxious again lol- its a 1978 with spoilers. In the thread above we determined that spoilers were never an option for 1978/79 cars. Does this mean that the early pasha 5 speed had the rubber spoiler added later on by an owner? If so, why? If so, was this a common modification? If so, is it wise to keep the modification or remove it and how does this affect value?

Some Bozo did the same to mine as well. I have removed them. Your car should be 'spoilerless.'
