Insurance company pays to fix three year old S4. Warning: disturbing content
My buddy found these pictures he took in the early 1990s at a body shop he worked at. This relatively fresh/ newish S4 came in and insurance gave the green light. I don't know the VIN of this unit and have no idea where it ever went, but even if I did I would never tell! Names and locations are redacted to protect the innocent, but I thought this could be a fun thread so let the abuse fly!
I have more pics of the repairs, but first weigh in on if this car should have been fixed at all:

Keep in mind this car was around $85,000 new, and probably had depreciated into 55-60K range at this point.

It would be fun to read that accident report....really tough to figure out how all that damage, from all the different directions, occurred.
Saturday night at the "Figure 8" race track?

In my experience, red 928's buff out pretty easily.

New front fenders, new hood, new right door, new right rear quarter panel, new bumper covers, and maybe new drivers door and minimal straightening of the under-structure, new windshield and new paint and it is good as new. The interior is probably just fine unless someone bled to death or blew their brains out in it. What's the big deal? Even now if it happened to be a very low miles car.

Story is that the guy lost control (duh) and hit those old guardrails with the cables broadside on the passenger side. He broke through enough poles to go through the cables but they didn't break and the car went under the very very stretched and tensioned cable, when the cable went over the car it did a lot of damage to the glass and roof area. The left side damage may have come before or after the guard rail fiasco. My friend says it was an 88 S4 with about 40K miles on it, the pics are from 1991. ALL the stuff came from the dealer

I'm betting this turned out extraordinary, with perfect body gaps, given the extremely accurate cinderblock frame machine it is sitting on.
In 1991, I'm positive that you could order a complete tub, in primer, for a 928 and skip all those nasty spot welds and associated labor.
