Ok, well the question is where are people like Sean and Rog going? Seriously, this forum is about the community and the technical expertise, and if both are vanishing then you go to where the info is.

Likewise who would be the best person at IB to discuss this with? It's probably not Dunkle, but that's the last person I spoke with about issues on the forum.

Apparently, no individual moderator can now give someone a penalty, a vacation, or a ban...this requires multiple warnings....and then a group decision from the moderators.

I believe that Roger made his own bed....
Over the past few months, virtually every post by Roger has required a moderator to step in, edit the post, and give Roger a warning.
The moderators have been overly patient and have given Roger every possible chance to be civil and follow the rules.
Constant editing and warnings are only going to be tolerated for so long...no matter how important you think you are.
I look back at Roger's recent posting history and to me, he's been "begging" for this action!

I commend the moderators for doing a great job, here on Rennlist.
They do this thankless job for free, donating their time to make Rennlist a fantastic source of information for enthusiasts.

Lots of good points here..... I think this type of forum format lends itself to this eventuality. .. becasue I've seen this exact same scenario on other IB forums. People that pay into the forum should not have any more or less freedom than those that dont.... if payola is part of it then its flawed and participants are just part of an infomercial.

Sorry, I am of a very different view. We have had major dust ups over the years, and with different moderation, they worked themselves out. Randy, for all the flak he took and dished, and he was a pissy biotch at many times, was a good moderator. In the current situation, I am seeing the rennlist community going through a style change that is unnecessary and over bearing. I have deep respect for our mods, indeed, Dr Bob is one of the deans of this community. But at some point, he should weigh in and decide if he is a 928 guy, or an IB corporate guy. Because where I sit and observe, the two are no longer the same thing. One job pays incalculable dividends, and the other does not. We need Hacker and Dr Bob as 928 guys - that's where they add real value to us here. I'm with Rick - I would instantly resign as a mod.

Not trying to throw water on the fire you people seem intent on wanting to start,
but go back through Roger's posts, as far as you have the patience to do so.
Let me know when you find him answering something technical/offering advise on how to fix something and not just marketing.

Good luck....I gave up looking.

Personally, I joined Rennlist to participate in the conversations....to help people figure out their problems and share what I know.
I still do this, extensively, to this day....with very little marketing!

Think about this: What is the purpose of this Forum?

I found at least 3 in the last couple of months. That's more technical advice than I have offered in a year. Plus I am glad he markets parts for our cars. That is a HUGE reason I joined this forum. Guys like you teach me how to fix stuff and guys like Roger help me find the parts needed to complement the repair. By the way, I have thousands of dollars of your parts on my 928. All purchased from 928sRus when I first bought the car and before I even knew who you where and what you did. All of my GB parts were recommended to me by Roger during our offline conversations on how to get my car back on the road. I'm sure I am not alone in that regard.

I agree, Greg and Roger are both huge helps to this community. I have respect for both, just sad to see the powers that be at IB handle a situation like this so poorly.

invalid.

Someone has to pay for the resources.

Lets get back to being car guys.

For those that want drama...there's plenty elsewhere.

Let's move on...this is pointless.

If you can't see that you are the "product" then carry on. The rest of us will move on.

Exactly. We pay for the privilege to share our knowledge that IB in turn sells to the next person to come along. Mods are volunteers, and they work for an account manager that manages this forum. his job is to meet a quota. He does not give one hoot about any of us, our cars or what we think. we are a way for him to make his quota. period.
