Everything I'm reading (it's being discussed in a few different places) seems to be saying that the cars being auctioned off (along with a bunch of other stuff) all belong to Rich.

Hm. Well, this sheds some light on why all the 928s disappeared from that shop. I used to drive by the Creamer Dr location and noticed one day everything was gone. Just assumed it was relocation.

I'd be interested in checking out the auction, but not interested in landing in a car that actually belongs to someone else.

Funny thing. He did have a black over black 89 GT. Kevin Wilson snagged it before the sheriff did.

Default The 89 black GT

The previously mentioned Black 89 GT is my car bought from Richard in 2017 I have a bill of sale and the title to the car.

I have reason to believe the car is in a forum members possession now based on post activity.

if you know you have my car, I emailed you about this as well, please reply to the email I sent. I will be discussing this with the sheriff tomorrow. We had planned to file a theft report to add to the existing ones filed from other customers. I guess mine will be added now to the other 3.

I'm going to post this in an effort to comply with moderator standards.

So out of 10 cars that were represented to the sheriff as "Belonging to Rich" during whatever process the cars went through from being in a shop somewhere to being in a sheriff's auction, a few (so far) have been claimed by POSSIBLE rightful owners. I contacted one friend already today who has claimed privately to me for about three years to have lost a car to Garage928, so there may be more POSSIBLE rightful owners surfacing. It looks like at least some of the cars MAY have had their ownership misrepresented to the court/ sheriff by Garage928. If this turns out to be the case I would think that Garage928 MAY have bigger legal problems that cross over from the Civil arena to the Criminal arena. I'm sure a lot more data will present itself soon.

Exactly Droo. This is going to be a real mess to sort out, but the owner (RVM) is in the vortex. I feel bad for the guys involved with the black GT. That is not going to be pretty to sort out, since there is a bona fide buyer on one hand, and an apparent bona fide owner on the other. These are the kinds of things we noodle over at work.

When Richard offered it to me (before he offered it to Kevin) he said he had the title. I specifically asked if this was the black GT he had years ago in a different location and he said no.

Kevin W. would have had no idea nor I that it was not Richard's to sell.

This is exactly what I was talking about in my post #13. I wouldn't buy one of these cars from that auction no matter how good a deal it seemed to be unless I had that amount of money to risk.

Can someone explain how the sheriff can sell a car to which the person from whom they've seized it does not hold proper title, and to which the sheriff can not issue proper title?

Speaking of Carlisle: My '82 went to the shop last week, and Josh says he should be done pulling it straight in the next week to ten days. I may have to flip a coin to choose which Shark to bring.

Could have went this way:

Judgement(s) are secured:

Then this step:

https://www.forsythsheriff.org/writ-...-property-levy

then the ad placed in the "paper" or in acceptable online publication:

http://www.forsythmarketplace.com/m/detail/119466/

In the interim VINS are run for ownership search. There is probable a legal requirement of a certain amount of ownership search and efforts by the sheriff...if no claims then it goes to auction. By the time auction day comes there will be some number less than 10 cars I think...

In the event that more cars are found in this case, the auction notification and the ownership search processes would start for those finds.
