1981 928 5spd fixing and modding

They are 205-55s in the front. There's nice twisties around my area and I was a bit surprised to hear the front tires squeal around a not so fast turn. Must definitely be these small stretched 205's then. Not much meat left in all the tires.
The rears are 225's ill have to look at what series but I believe 50's.
Ok so time to hunt down the 245's.
Just looked up my year and seems the tire sizes I have are what it calls for with 7" wheels on all corners.

And my brain doesn't always retain info that I don't have a need for.
IIRC, there are maybe one or two choices in that size, but they are the spendy ones.
The only choice I've ever seen was the 225/50s.
Your car, your choice, but one of the really cool things about the 928 is the balance & handling. Nearly 50/50 weight balance and almost neutral handling.
Properly set up, it has just a touch of understeer, but the tail can be brought out with a bit of throttle.
The Weissach axle lets 'less than skilled' drivers have a bit of fun with minimal risk of going into a tree backwards.
Putting bigger tires on the back defeats that some.

Ok thank you for the information on the wheels and tires. Gives me perspective of the direction I will go with later.
I will keep 8" in the rear and 7" up front.
I do have 225-50's in the rear.

I thought the standard was 225 all around on the pre-87 928s.
Am I wrong on this? I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Been reading about what is best for the early 5spd's. I'm finding a mix of positive reviews of these two and wanted to hear if there is a holly grain between these or maybe there is a third option? My gears are grinding up and down shifting depending on temp and rpm. Opinions welcomed... thank you.

Well correct me if im wrong, but seems my ninetwoeight has a engine swap.
My block code is:
m28 / 19
81D0473
4.7L LH Jet
OEM calls for a:
m28 /15
4.5 Ljet
Is there a difference in heads and intake? Wonder if its a complete engine swap or just the bottom end.

M28/19 is L-Jet.
'Barn Door' AFM & Green wire ignition.
The only 16v with LH2.2 was the M28/21 & 22. The "twin dizzie" S2 Euro.
Not sure about the heads, but I think the intake is the same.
