Australia. $100 just to get it out of the way!

The 3 speed is the strongest box and has a higher stall convertor. Always starts in first. The four speed takes a weird routine to start in first. The four speed is not a performance box, it's more for the economy. I did not start a thread for my conversion as there are enough here already. I'm using a Microsquirt ECU which is part of the Megasquirt family. Type Megasquirt into the search box and you will find plenty. I'm using a Commodore 5.0L throttle body and the Bosch injectors from the Audi 1.8T. Ford EDIS-8 ignition and coil packs.

For that price, Jon this would be something worthwhile to pick up being in the same country, especially if it includes all the K-Jet components like the WUR, AAV, Fuel Distributor, and the air metering assembly.

I think you should also consider going full EFI. I'm perfectly willing to sell you a perfect K-jet but the stage your at with the engine in pieces and virtually a clean slate it's the ideal time to make this into a modern car. An aftermarket ECU with modern coil packs and fuel injectors transforms this engine. It will make it simpler too. It's amazing the amount of crap on top of that engine there to make the K-jet work reasonably well. It will enable you to get rid of the distributor and the dreaded Green wire too. Other stuff to consider is also the crankcase breather system. I would suggest some research into the various aftermarket systems kits available. I have shifted my remote oil filler and removed any possibility of sending any crankcase gas down the intake and dilating the 98 fuel. Take your time and do plenty of research.

It is definitely something i have considered although I am leaning towards k-jet, the purist in me i suppose. What did you find improved significantly after you went EFI? Guessing reliability and economy... Performance as well?

Mostly drivability. There will be a slight power increase at WOT but the most improvement is right where the car spends most of the time in normal driving. Most of this is down to getting rid of a distributor and having a timing map that covers the whole range. The car is more lively with an instant response. The K-jet is a reactive system, you stab the throttle and a few things happen and eventually, the system dumps a heap of fuel down the intake. The distributor flings some weights out against a spring and you get some timing advance. If your car is an Australian delivered car you will have the different vacuum advance to a Euro.
Basically it just converts the 928 into a modern engine.

yep that makes a whole lot of sense, i will do some research and make a decision. I am trying not to get sucked into too many WYIT rabbit holes. Lots to tick off.

It's handy to have the tow ring in the kit. That means you have the right one with the correct thread. Have you worked out whether this is an Australian delivered car yet or a Euro. They came with a tyre inflator but I'm not sure whether that's original. Carpet is the same colour as mine. I would keep those wheels too. Design 90's are the ultimate but those are second best.

tow eye has already come in handy. Great how there’s a point on rear and front as well!

I’m fairly certain it’s aus delivered now. Very little documentation came with it but there’s a gold sticker inside the fuel flap specifying to ‘use only super unleaded 95 in Australia’.

My neighbour’s uncle works for Porsche so I’ll see if I can squeeze him for a Certificate of authenticity.

On another note. My partner surprised me with these this morning... lucky boy!

Bit of progress tonight, pulled the fuel tank for cleaning. The amount of crud built up under there was nuts. She’s living up to her name. Any tips for cleaning? Was going to pressure wash and if that failed see if my partners hand fits through the fuel level sender hole.... How’s the pile of roach turd 😳

Not doing the fuel lines on these really is a death sentence. Literally crumbling to the touch.
