vems.com and vems.ee are not related other than selling same brand of ECU...

Nice results Lorenzo!!

Here's video of how my '84 928 S2 drove on the track in the hand sof my friend. It was basically just a short test, not serious pushing or anything.

EDIT: that white 924 is my '83 924 with 2.6 16v turbo engine (a bit more power than 928)

Looking good. Very timely video now I am getting closer to a VEMS purchase. What exhaust are you running?

Thanks

I have finally installed my VEMS PNP kit from Peep. All has gone well. Started fine and seems to drive ok. Just doing the auto tune to get it all aligned up with the fuel map as supplied with the kit. I have struck an issue when installing the TPS. Its basically in the same spot as the original however it seems to be reading backwards. I actually seeded the backwards numbers into the ECU and the car still works. Basically the WOT is a low number and off throttle is a high number. I could always reverse the wires (not sure which ones) however that wasn't indicated as a requirement. It also seems to want to keep fueling ever so slightly off throttle. Could this be related. Anyway I have only been for a 5 minute drive so not much of a diagnosis yet. I will try further tomorrow. The original TPS calibrated normally through the VEMS tune.

Update on my VEMS installation:
  • Changes injectors to semi - sequential (no cam sensor)
  • Added 2 knock sensors (Bosch 0 261 231 006)
  • Added 2 lambda sensors (4.9 LSU) (dual lambda support in VEMS can change injector pulse per bank)
  • Added 2 Bosch 2 x 2 (wasted spark) (Bosch 0 221 503 407)
  • Activated kickdown output signal from the VEMS, so i can control when the kickdown occurs (RPM, MAP and TPS)
  • Changed the spark plug connector for the 4 mm pin, 1 kOhm (VESO116) to fit the Bosch 0 221 503 407 ignition coil. Current spark plug wire resistance is 4000 ohms.
Designed knock bolt but never used it:

Designed bracket for the wasted spark:

Hi again.

Sounds like lots of work has been going on. Love to see some more pictures of your set up.

[QUOTE=kingwildh;18503420]Some pictures of the wasted spark setup.

King,
I'm assuming you got the wasted spark setup from Peep? If so would you mind sharing your wiring diagram with me? I have the VEMS and coil kit from Peep and plan on installing this winter. I've been pushing this install down the road as I've been working on the design of a new intake and was going to install my VEMS once that was done. However, like all things, that may be a while yet:/
Thanks

Also, what material did you print your MAF bypass out of? I design one of my own and printed it using glass fiber (30) nylon, but I'm still hesitate about using it as I'm not sure how well it will hold up in the heat (although specs say it will). My plan is to zip tie it up in the engine bay for a nice long drive and see how it holds up. Since my air intake is not stock I needed to create a bypass that was somewhat sturdy. Still needs to be sanded smooth.

Hi 85Euro928,

No, wiring was done based on the installation instructions from VEMS, very simple...I have 8 Ignition IGBT in my VEMS setup so I just did exact what was done in this setup except for the fact I used 33, 34, 35 and 36 for my pin setup.

And here is the firing order with the pin numbers for coil activation:

Coil Layout:
Piston 5 and 3 connect pin 35
Piston 8 and 2 connect pin 33
Piston 7 and 4 connect pin 34
Piston 6 and 1 connect pin 36

For the MAF replacement I outsource ..and was printed with Nylon 12 / PA 12 (SLS):

Thank you!.
As I believe I have the same PNP system as you this should work. Did you then tune (or have tuned) the ignition tables? Or did you just run the new coils/system with the existing ignition tables?

Hi, no tune change..running dwell time for the old setup was 3.5 ms at 13.2V ..output could be some what different but that is not timing related.
I am now running with a 3.3 ms dwell time at 13.2V and on average the V in my running system is between 13.8 and 14.60 V so that is around 69 mJ output at the coil.
Did a compare run before and after and the AFR where exact the same around most of the range so all good there.

Greg,
Did you ever fix the TPS issue? I ask because I'm installing my TPS and it appears to only be able to be installed backwards (facing the rear), which means it won't work as the fitting and hose for the aux warm up won't allow the plug to be installed?

My issue wasnt the install. It faced the correct way. Mine was that it read backwards as in foot down it went left foot off it went right during the calibration process. But it works fine however. I am struggling to understand your picture but if I can when i have time I will look at mine and post a pic.
