A Puzzle for the Best 928 Specialist out there

There are 2 clamps, one on each side holding in the connector. I used a small screwdriver to press the middle, it didnt move the outer to clamps. I tried using one hand with screwdriver to press one, one hand and a screwdriver on the other, one hand holding the phone with lighted video camera so that I could see over the laid down board so that I didnt have to unattach to whole board, and one hand still on my drink. Couldnt get it out.

ETA Or release them 2 at a time and gently push through the back. Your CE panel is different from my ‘87.

It’s hard sometimes to understand what exactly people are trying to do by just reading stuff on an Internet thread like this, but I get it now. Take the panel out of the car, it’s a 10-15 minute job. G-d bless you for trying to accomplish your task with it all attached, in situ! 😂

Do you need a link that describes how to disconnect the connectors at its base? If the CE panel is out of the car you can then take it inside and do whatever you like with the utmost access. Removing the CE panel is one of the most mentally challenging things that turns out to be absolutely nothing, pull it.

Does replacing terminals represent symptom or cause?
Rhetorical I realize. Advice is study spaghetti of wires on back of CE. Pick thru them carefully, look for subtle melts.
I had an 85 32V car. Back panel wire associated with rear defroster melted into wires associated with engine controller relay. Just looked like a normal pair of grey crossing wires, but they made copper to copper contact.
Then pick thru all the little colored wires on all distribution plugs removed when removing panel.
If any are charred it will be prudent to physically trace them their full length, dismantling interior and unwrapping harness covers. On 928 the charring will propagate thru the harness, randomly fusing other wires.

Landseer, thank you. As I fought for several hours to get the terminal out with my camera zoomed, I did notice a gray wire that I wanted to revisit when I finished with the terminal. Good advice. I feel like I'm going to be a certified electrician after getting this car going. I told my friend, I wired my exhaust to my sound system. Sounds awesome!
