Default Failing water pump

After one problem tonight I decided to start fixing one of the threads in the block for the water pump. So, I decided to clean the water pump up so I could work with it. When I was cleaning it I noticed cracks on the impeller. I am not sure what make of pump it is, but I don’t think it’s that old. It does have a plastic impeller. Is anyone able to tell from the numbers what manufacture it is.

Part number

Manufacturers Number?

Cracks 180 out

Porsche pump. There's a casting date up in the center area at the top....right in the middle.

That's a very old Porsche pump. You can tell because it lacks the additional bushing.

Looks like that Impeller wasn't far from completely splitting in half and they don't pump very well that way. You got your money's worth out of that one.

Default History lesson

Well, this pump came off of a donor engine. It adds a little bit more to suspected maintenance that was performed on this. I am pretty sure the heads have been reworked prior along with timing belt. Not sure about water pump.

When I did my refresh on the thrust bearing fail motor, I decided to go with a EURO pump from eBay, knowing it was going to come off in the near future.
I think I put about 3000 miles on it. We will see how it held up.
