I have one of John’s baffles. What was the simple mod? Was it to the baffle or something else?
The baffle is great. I prefer it without the scrubber, but it’s fine with it too.
The important thing is to make the engine vent from the front during acceleration and the rear during the deceleration.
ProVent does work as a separator, but you need to size it correctly based on their application guide and that means BIG. A less effective but smaller and better flowing separator can be found from BMW.

Isn't it great that there are so many different ways to "skin the same cat"?
The last few "large displacement" 928 engines I've built have had no oil separators or Provents....which really clutter the engine compartment for people that are looking for the "stock" look.
The "combination" of my internal pieces seems to be taking care of virtually all of the oil getting to the intake systems (all have been street engines)...even on brand new "big bore" engines that are brand new and have not seated the rings.
Even I have been a bit flabbergasted by these results. It does allow me to feel good about being so terribly OCD about these cars.....that I'm never completely satisfied, and continue to work on problems.

It is crazy how much oil gets flung up by the counterweight into the oil fill neck. Same goes for what comes out of the heads without any real baffling from the factory.
I can't wait to order your cam cover baffles and install them to see how much more oil it will prevent reaching the Provent I have. I could easily fill the Provent 200 (~4 oz) in 60 miles of hard driving .
All the other pieces I have of yours have been great so far. I just haven't tested the windage trays with the engine not installed yet.

Tuomo published his proposed design in a post but i cannot find it at the moment. The subtle mod was to run a line containing a 1mm orifice from the rear crossover hose to the inlet manifold via what used to be the vent from the filler neck via the line that vents the fuel tank [the Y piece of hose at the front of the engine].
With the Pro Vent removed altogether the mods are barely noticeable at first glance.
Thanks for the replies guys! I actually have several different setups going on. On my SC GT I currently don't have a crankcase baffle installed but do have Hans' baffle going in when I get his new SC setup. I also have GB's baffles for the valve covers that I haven't installed yet either but plan to soon. However, I do have two of those BMW separators installed and they do work well but I do get a minor film back to the intake. I'm sure that once I install the crankcase baffle and valve cover baffles it will be dry as a bone.
On my stock GT I have one of GB's crankcase baffles and it seems to be working well although it hasn't been driven much since the rebuild.
Then I have the Kuhn separator that is going on my 86 Euro 32V. That's why I was asking about what modifications were done. My plan was to install the Kuhn baffle along with BMW oil separators and GB's valve cover baffles. From the sounds of it I may be good with just the crankcase and valve cover baffles and forego the BMW separators. Maybe I will play around a bit with the different setups and see what I get.
When putting together my 4.7 16v this summer I bought an oil pan off ebay and lucked into the pickup with the windage screen.
I also installed the 928MS oil control baffle and then plumbed in a dual chamber Verus AOS that vents the cam towers to one chamber and the crankcase to the other. Captured oil drains back to the crankcase when the car is shut off and the one way valve doesn't have pressure against it anymore.
I had been blowing oil out my previous crankcase vent setup, but with this, not any longer. More details on the AOS install are in my Blown / Damaged Head Gasket Thread
