Rob's GTS in Excellence

Eric,
I might join that band, after all, the Outlaw GT could become a GTS clone with a monster motor from the masters of the 928 universe!
(Love the look of the intake manifold)
Now that they have most of the bugs worked out with the motor and clutch... It is sure is tempting! Not sure how my GT 5-speed would handle that much power???
Only trouble is that the GT runs so well right now...

Although I've built enough of them with the 5.8 liter or 6.5 liter engines that they are now downright slow, by comparison.

Hey Rob,
Can you post the photos and content of the article here? I'm contemplating the next iteration of my 90 Outaw GT...
Even though its running great I'm thinking about the next big maintenance cycle...
Perspective is everything...

I wish! Mine is Midnight blue metallic, which turns out to be the most common GTS color, worldwide (692 out of 3325 - 20% of all GTSs), while Iris blue was rare as hell in the US (4 cars) and somewhat more common ROW (147 cars).

Iris Blue is so, so, so, so good. It's right up there with the Speed Yellow beast that prowls these pages from time to time, and Mike Benno's Pinkachu. The person that owned one on here passed away (...inOKC?) but it is not clear to me what became of the car. It was a looker.
Back to the article, is there something I'm missing on the intake? I read the uploaded pictures/article but didn't see anything except Rob's typically excellent work on the stock parts (which is nothing to sneeze at, I was just expecting something really non-stock, given some of the other comments). What am I missing?
Good article, great car, thanks for sharing the story.
Cheers

Honestly, that article is a bit of a mess, it conflates a whole bunch of different 928 motors of Greg's and it's pretty fast and loose with specs and data. I didn't get the chance to review the draft of the article and it was nearly a year between the interview and photoshoot and the article coming out- it surprised me when it appeared. My stroker motor is actually about as basic a build Greg did in that period (it has a stock GTS intake on it, which is very much the performance bottleneck) , and is a far cry from what he's doing now.

It remains difficult to control writers exuberance when describing cars of importance.
As an owner, I have learned to require that any car I allow to be written about have the first draft sent to me for review. Then, after it is edited and returned, I require another approval of the final draft. In my experience, once an article contains inaccuracies - the peanut gallery of armchair experts deride a car and its owner regardless if the errors were by the author.
Such is life...
