I think they are 951 Turbo Pistons.

confirming that those are 944 turbo pistons.
those were 8:1 compression in a 944 and a 928 has 2mm or so more deck height - youll be way down in CR or need a longer rod/stroke to bring to the deck.

I think the P.O. had supercharging in mind, but not sure. His goodies also included a cross drilled 5.0 crankshaft. I'm wondering what I could build with those a starting pnt.

If you’re willing to spend on custom rods, then you can build a forced induction Alusil engine using them with a little higher redline rpm than when starting with an ‘87 S4. You need machine the piston top somewhat to accommodate valves with valve reliefs and also shape the dish a bit to improve tumble. Rebco can machine the pistons economically.

Or, find another 85.9mm GTS crankshaft, use a stock S4 rod, cut 1.5mm off the top of the pistons, and add valve reliefs.

Toss in some GT cams and have a fun little "GTS style" engine.

We saw a German build like that recently posted here. Koenig?

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-please-2.html

However, I don’t think it’s cost effective build in the current parts pricing situation in which the (IMO poorly designed) GTS crankshaft is prices in $x000’s not $x0’s.

It’s just my personal opinion that the GTS crankshafts should not be going into our engines, they should be coming out of the engines. The counterweight arrangement compromises the main bearing loads and crankcase gas movement in favor of lower manufacturing costs. It’s pretty much the worst designed forged V8 crankshaft that I’ve seen in person.

The price that used GTS crankshafts go for makes no sense to me, before you consider their low production numbers. I’d be selling, not buying, the original GTS crankshaft.

Now, this probably doesn’t matter at rpms that these engines see. It’s just one of my pet peeves: S4 crankshaft is a great design and then they laid an egg like the GTS crankshaft.

those pistons on stock 928 rods and 5.0 crank will put your CR below 7:1.

OP better have a 6-71...
