Would you happen to know where in the US I could have this done?? And a rough cost guestimate?

Or is it cheaper to get a used block and have it worked over to my piston specs? Seems to be the easier answer right now...

Where did you get those?
Yup, they came with the car. Thanks for the advice, I'll be calling back with some more questions here soon..

A bitsa is an Australia expression for something made from pieces here and there. I said that because you appear to have pieces from an S4 a GTS and customized pistons. So all different bits out of the Porsche parts bin.

Cheers Greg

You've got that right! This entire car is a combination of different model year pieces all stuck together. The amazing thing is (or scary part is) it all works...

Hi,

Why don't you try to call or e-mail that problem to ***** Koenig himself? I suppose, as a german he may have archived the work he made on this car. Isn't it?

We carry some nice connecting rods for that project.

You have early 1987 rods which are considerably better than later parts.

Good luck.

I have no idea who does it in US, sorry. In here those places that have right Sunnen machine and silicon paste needed in finishing bores install sleeves also. For me it would be clearly cheaper to fix only one cylinder than have 8 of them machined 100 -> 101mm. On both options final lapping is needed anyway and it costs about $100 per cylinder in here so either way is expensive.

I actually did call Koenig Specials in Munich, Germany, and talked to Walter, as I remember (who I think is *****'s son if I am not mistaken..??)

I'm sure they did archive it, but the problem is finding it.

They apparently keep all their records on the cars they work on according to the customer's name. And since this car has changed owners many times since it was originally modified by them, I have no clue who it was. I would absolutely love to find some history on this car.

I sent Koenig the VIN number from the car, with a copy of the German Title, hoping to get at least some info on it, but no luck. The only two previous owners I know of are the gentleman in Florida who I bought the car from, and the guy in Germany he bought it from (who was storing the car inside his house in the living room, right in between the TV and couch -- no kidding.. )

OOpps...

These pistons and cylinder bores are closer to 100.5mm. So I think they're in the 1st Oversize range according to the WSM's (100.48-100.5).

I really need an accurate micrometer.

So it looks like these are modified GTS pistons, with the 'bowl' rounded out.

German title should have up to six previous owners names and addressees listed. I would be surprised if yours do not have them.

'92 GTS piston is different than what's in your picture. It has groove between compression rings. Don't know if later '93-95 pistons have it or not. They were changed somehow to minimize oil consumption problem but it didn't work too well.
