Default Body shop

Hello all, New member here, have been lurking for some time and learned a lot from you all. Yesterday someone smashed into my car while it was parked out front of my house. They hit the quarter panel on the rear of the driver side of car, twisted wheel, broke a arm, bumper cover damage, etc. I need a good body shop that can repair the body etc. also car would not start as well so maybe broke fuel pump but not sure. the day before I drove the car for 40 min and all ok so know the no start is due to the accident. The drivers insurance USAA already checked with several of the shops on their list and no one wants to touch it. I live in Redmond Washington so a recommmendation for someone close to me would be nice. 1984 928S.

I think you need to become a member. It's about $17, and you can set up a signature, etc. You'll be able to get and send pm's.

Agree with the suggestion to get membership..

I would love to see pictures and would be happy to make an attempt at a virtual estimate. Labor rates are different all across the country. I own and operate a collision repair center in south central KY (cheaper labor rates) and we have great familiarity to the 928, and all of the required equipment to properly service the car. Plus, a complete inventory of Glasurit and other BASF chemicals. We're not afraid of your car if you can't find a reputable shop with any willingness in your area.

Also, we're a USAA "vendor" and are happy to work with them. They're one of the better companies to deal with in our part of the world. Considering the likely disparity in labor rates, sending the car to me could make sense as the savings in labor could help offset transport costs..

IF it doesn't total.. For which I can provide guidance to getting a higher valuation for the car if your inclination is to have it repaired.

Thank you!
Honestly, I hope no RL'ers need me for collision damage.

I'm always here to help in any case though.

Having personal knowledge and experience with Austin (ka Kiln_Red) I cannot say enough about his abilities and quality in what he does. Dark shark, initially you might be fretting over the cost of shipping across the country, but if you want a first class job, second to NONE, someone who knows 928's inside and out, along with more passion that you can imagine, I would highly recommend you send your car to KY. PM me if you need more info regarding referral.

The next 928 I have done will go to Austin in KY.
The quality vs transport ratio is a no-brainer in my book.
928s travel all over the country looking for the best work. Sean gets them from all over, I just got one in from Miami.

The local PCA folks typically recommend Queen City (in Redmond) http://queencityautorebuild.com/ or Haury's in Lake City https://www.hauryscollision.com/ .
I've not used either, but back when my old 84 got hit, I got a quote from Queen City and it was way more than the value of the car so it's likely they may just try to write it off.
I'm sure you know this, but start collecting values for your 928 as examples for the insurance company to use as they will ultimately low ball.
Good luck...
Also, post up on our local PacNW 928 page https://groups.io/g/PacNW928 to see if someone local has some other ideas..
