Side mirror wiring
I removed side mirrors to have them painted and markings on barrel connectors to note which wire goes where has disappeared probably from handling them too often.
Does anyone have a picture showing orientation of wiring layout on barrel connector?

Me too, thanks. When I had the car painted they pulled the mirrors, cut the wires and rejoined them...some wrongly! Next time I have to go into the door I should be able to fix it !

When I had mine apart for my build, I found a small multi-wire screw together connector (think cb radio mic attachment) that actually fits through the hole in the door and put the wires together with enough length where I can remove and reconnect a mirror without taking wires out of a connector. This is how Porsche should've done it to start with.

They come in different sizes with different #s of pins for exactly what you need. I had actually used this one, which I remeber being metal, but it's NLA on Amazon -

The stock barrel connector can be unpinned using a cheep connector tool, then pass the wires through the mirror arm, this works for re-painting, vinyl wrapping or if the spring breaks and you have to replace a mirror. No need to cut anything or remove anything but the mirror.
However mirror disassembly is required to access that barrel shown in the pic's above.

Actually it doesn't. The reason I used this is because it fits through the hole in the door once the mirror is removed and the extra wire length lets you tuck it away from the window better.

Excellent--thanks for the link.
But you guys are confusing me. I need to repair the mirror-- spring, I'm guessing. Have purchased the connector disassembly tools and am trying to figure out if I'll need/want to put in one of these 6 pin connectors, to do that. Would like to have everything on hand, prior to starting.
Thanks.
