New PSD in action!
Hi All
After many many hours of fault finding, I now have:
1. A rebuilt PSD by Harald Stein
2. A new solid state LAS from John Speake
3. A repaired ABS ECU (pin 15 fuse) by John
No more error message!
But.....how do I know the LSD is working? I've read on here somewhere about finding a gravel area, but being on a small island, we don't have many of those. Even if we did, what am I looking for in new car behaviour?
Thanks!
John

With the rain that is coming down in the UK at the moment just mincing the throttle should see the green light come on. That is an indication that the PSD is doing something but exactly what is a mystery given it can apply lock up anything between the range of zero to 100% depending on what the ABS computer has determined is needed to get things under control.
Not everyone likes this- I think that for its day it was brilliant and still is.

The PSD hasn't worked since I bought it.....

It is a very reliable system providing the fluid is changed every couple of years or so just as you would [should?] your brake fluid given the stuff is hygroscopic [i.e. absorbs water].

John,
I see you brought some forest home with you!
Yes - mud, grassy verges all will work well for PSD testing. I'm originally from Southampton - so I know you have just endless options for this...
Though likely quite rare for you - ice patches would be ideal too.

Sort of a 'poor man's launch control.'
Put an automatic in gear.
Stand on the brakes.
Floor the accelerator.
When the revs get way up, release the brakes.
Leave big smoky burnouts.
Caution:
Doing it much will destroy your tires (Captain Obvious, at your service).
However, it's also REALLY hard on the transmission. Do it enough (maybe once, maybe more than once) and you will find out how much a trans rebuild costs.
