New Product: low-cost 2-piece harmonic balancer
So, here it is:
Two-piece harmonic balancer. No more pesky having to turn the crank with a 27mm socket to check your timing belt. Just rotate the marked portion until it lines up with the pointer on the center belt cover.
It also makes dialing in your cam timing a snap!
It's very easy to convert your OE balancer into this new two-piece design: just wait long enough.
(Editor's Note from Captain Obvious: the above is sarcasm.)
I took this off of a 50k-mile '87 this morning.
Doc Brown's been singing the swan song of the original balancers for some time. This is a coda for that song.

If you buy the custom 2 piece balancer complete kit, does it come with a new set of main bearings?

Team Owner
just get some super glue and wipe the mating surfaces with alcohol,
and glue it together,
It will be almost good as new !
NOTE For your coffee table damper only.

In all seriousness, I'm going to start a new (serious) thread about this. I want to gather some thoughts on why this failed the way it did.

I know that this new high-tech is expensive.
After updating to the new design, is it possible to do rebuilds by only ordering the rubber part, "when it wears out?" Or is it long life, never-wear-out rubber?
