I went with the simplest cover attachment for now: (I'm a bit out of creative steam!)



A 9-1/8" clear 1/8" polycarbonate disk, with a 1/4" hole drilled in the center, for a quick release pin:



I tried a light smoke cover, but it looked nasty.

Total cost, inclusive (including 2 spare bulbs), ~$360.

One gripe that I have is that, on dark rainy nights, either because of my placement, or inherent in the projector design, there is not much light fill to the immediate periphery like the big H4's. Turning on the fog lights helps, though.

Do you plan on providing this to us for purchase? When I have some time in the not too distant future I am 99% sure I would like to get the stuff from you. This is the first time I have considered modifying my car's apperance from stock, other than wheels.
I like the look. The car looks more animated. When you look into the eyes of a living being you see the iris/pupil and a glare off the eyeball. With 2 lights per opening you have the pupil/iris and the glare making it look alive.

I wonder what you could do with the turn signals? Possibly put them in front of and between the the new lights?

I hadn't planned on making a kit. By the limited feedback I've gotten, people kind of like the fixed lights, but are not inclined to change from stock. And the people that might consider one all have different designs in mind.

I am going to weld up a jig so that I can either copy what I have in aluminum, or I'm considering a sheet metal version. With the jig made, it would be easy to make a copy of the frame, and wire up another harness for you. (It's quite easy to install and wire.) The lights themselves are available from www.rallylights.com.

When it gets a little drier outside, I plan on making a fiberglass bucket to go under and around the lights (with no cover).

I imagine these lights would look even better on a S4, as they would better match the sleaker fog/driving light assembly.

I thought about putting the turn signals in there somehow, but couldn't think of a location that would be visible from the front, as well as the sides? And, what to do with the stock signal lens?

I like what you did, and you are right about everyone has a different way
they would want this to look. For me, I'd like the lens cover to be flush
with the top of the light well, mainly for aerodynamic reasons. Besides
the aerodynamics, the weight savings would be the next big thing for me,
then improved lighting. Of course price is also an important factor. Projectors
are definitely in the future plans.

Kinko's sells perforated vinyl for signs on car windows; I'll bet it's the same stuff, and they'll print it however you like.

The near fill problem I complained about was the placement. There is a very nice swath of light to the left and right with the low beams swapped to the inside.

I think the lights look better too. It's subtle but the lows on the outside made the car look a little droopy eyed when they were off? (Did anyone catch on that I was only taking pics with the lights on )



Technically, it's no longer DOT compliant. The lows are supposed to be on the outside for some reason. Oh well, H4's were never compliant, right?

BTW - All the really cool dudes have their Cavaliers set up to run with the high beams on all the time anyway.

jorj7 - when you get around to your headlights, if you need any measurements or whatever, 'I have detailed files'. BTW, the high beams are amazing.

gbryon - When I figure out a decent cover and/or bucket, I'll offer a kit. Figure around $100 for the frame, cover, harness, and jumpers to replace the headlight brain.

Then around $250 for the lights from the link above. (Did someone say 'group buy'? Then again, maybe 2 people + me aren't a very big group, and I already paid full price... )
