I dont know, I think the stock lights make the car, they are very unique. The lights you have made look nice but they are similar to everything else out there. IMHO the stock lights are better.

Something like this for the final would be nice:

Porken - Can you weight each piece of the original assembly and tell us what the heaviest piece was? I think that the weight savings is more important to me then the look change. So if your saying that middle bar is heavy, then we can get a different version of it. My bumper is off, so I would like to try soime changes in that area. Were you planning on doing some sort of pic with the light beam pattern, or objectively going out in a different car and seeing what the light looks like to oncomming passengers?

Sharkskin, BrendanCampion,
I'll post pics of the beams as soon as I have the lights working! The lights are DOT legal and are said to have really nice optics/beams. The direct wiring should enhance the light output too.
...
VU,
Weight, aerodynamics, 'flash to pass', 'instant on', more focused/useable light output, 'modern look'.
I like the looks of the pop-ups too, but truthfully, I like the look with the headlights down more. I'm hoping this will end up with a stock look, headlights down.
My headlights would often not stay down (keep cycling) when turned off, and it was easier to make these than fix the old.![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
...
BrendanCampion,
By order of heft: motor, crossbar, base, light. If the crossbar and base tubing was replaced with aluminum (titanium
), that would take most of the weight out.
...
Hacker-Pschorr,
I'm hoping a fiberglass guy will step up and make a bucket/cover to go with my bracket.
The lights could be moved forward if one of the four mounting ears (three are used) were trimmed off and a cover with bumps like the second pic was installed.
I didn't want to modify the lights in case they sucked and I had to sell them on eBay!
...
Here's what I expect it will look with just the acrylic cover that I plan on installing:

This is photoshopped.

Cool PorKen......Remember the drivers side fender well has the vent tube for the alternator in it. You prolly want to get the covers on before you drive on any dusty roads, or put a filter head over the end of the hose up in the fender well.
You are a creative bugger, I will give you that..............

I really like the Jacquemond dual projectors, with recessed lights.
I just think it needs to be slick, not hacked.
But the first step is getting them in there.
If you want, check out this guy's site:

He built an awesome V8 Z car, with some really nice homemade fiberglass work.
Including recessed projection headlights...

Gretch - I have the replacement Bosch alternator; no hose.
Dozman - thanks!
...
saxapeel, RedUFO,
You guys are so... 80's. Pull the LaCrosse polo T's from over your eyes and take an objective look.

The recessed cowl effect in the bottom picture of Hacker Pschorr's post would look nice. It would clean up the profile of the fenders. You'd need covers unless you wanted to start a bug collection.
It would be a bear to get the compound curves right.
