Default Issue after POD Removal

Ok guys. On my 89S4, I removed the pod to change an actuator. Got that done and reassembled everything but none of my dash readings work. No dash readings at startup, no temp, Alternator, fuel, tach doesn’t jump with engine revs, nothing. I thought I may have crossed the connections at the rear of the cluster but they appear to only fit one way.

Are the connections interchangeable? Any idea what I missed?

if the pod connections are properly connected then check the fuses

IIRC the digital dash connectors are labeled 1234 usually by hand with a crayon

And if not you can always check wire colors against the WSM.

Thanks Guys. I’ll look at the connectors. Fuses were fine prior to removal. Can they blow just from unhooking the connectors? I had the battery out when I was pulling the pod.

the fuse can blow after you connect the battery and have a the wrong connector in the wrong slot

Also, the instrument panel connectors need to be firmly seated. Check that the retention tabs have swung fully into the locked position.

Thanks Stan. It was the fuse. I took that pod out 3 times trying to identify something I missed. What brand of fuses are considered “good unlit” fuses? You also recommended some type of electrical tape to me last year in Virginia. Can you let me know the name of that also? It was for something I had taped under the hood.

If you're talking about the old GBC style fuses, I found the Flosser brand is available on Amazon.
Copper strips on ceramic insulators, about as good as you can get for this style.

If you just need a few 8A ones, I bought a 25 pack and could share a few if needed.

For future reference by users of this thread, please identify which fuse blew.
(I'm going to guess #7 or #24)
Thanks,
Jason

Yes, it was #24 that blew. I’m looking for a variety pack to replace all the fuses in the panel.

Good ole fuse 24. Note that if it blows again, check your overhead "map" light. It could be intermittently shorting against the body. Been there, done that.
